Scouts Visit with the President (Obama is honorary chair of the Boy Scouts)
Scouts Visit with the President
Posted by Liza Heyman on July 16, 2010 at 02:41 PM EDT

On Monday, the President opened the doors to the White House Oval Office and warmly welcomed the Boy Scouts of America Delegation. The Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and a Boy Scout Venturer gathered close for a picture as they presented the President with their 2009 Report to the Nation. This annual report summarizes the Scouting’s accomplishments of the previous year and their vision for the future. The Scouts also presented a special “Let’s Move” related scholarship, which the president graciously promised to relay to the First Lady.

As an honorary chair of the Boy Scouts, President Obama was eager to hear from the extraordinary scouts who spoke with smiles and enthusiasm about the organization’s 100 year anniversary. The delegation, which represents over 3 million members of the Boy Scouts, was encouraged to carry on its steady commitment to leadership, service, and the community for another century to come.

3. Don't the Boy Scouts still discriminate against gays and atheists?
Last time I checked they did.

The OP got a reaction from an earlier Boy Scout story and is back for an encore. It's certainly not news, it happened over a month ago.

6. Individual scouts don't set policy, the National Council does.
I know for a fact that some local councils and individual troops ignore that bullshit and welcome anyone openly, despite what policy is.

Not that it makes the "official" stance any less bigoted.
