Something is wrong with this world. Is it me? [Signed] J.
In the mail today, and reprinted with permission, (I'm leaving out the name of the town.)

I live in xxxxx, WI.

I was in the 10 items or less line at Piggly Wiggly (grocery store).

A woman had 60 items. I asked her if she could read. She replied, "Do you have a problem with this?" I said 'Yes.' She said 'Deal with it.'

I asked if she thought she could get away with this because she was fat and ugly. She dialed 911. I'm looking at a $423.00 ticket for disorderly conduct. I hired a lawyer.

Something is wrong with this world. Is it me? J.

8. I don't think there are any Piggly Wiggly stores in Wisconsin
There's one in Duluth, MN . . . that would be the closest one and would involve MN police.

Store locator:
http://www.pigglywiggly.com/store-locations

none in WI, MI, IA, IL....

Dunno, the story kinda smells to me.

11. I find it amusing because they both sound obnoxious. It sure must have
been a slow day for the police if they got to the scene of the crime before the guy got thru the checkout line and left.

Why didn't the guy just call the manager to deal with the obnoxious twit who had '60' items in an express line? His insulting her was no way to deal with that situation. I had no idea one could report such an incidence. I once rebuked a dog walker who had unleashed an aggressive dog in a park that dogs were required to be leashed. In response he unhurled a torrent of abuse. Had I known that I could have called the police, I would have.

One question I have is how 'animated' the guy was when he called twit fat and ugly. Did he say it clamly or was he enraged?

17. Accelerating with insults was wrong action: instead, appeal to the cashier.
If the cashier isn't going to enforce the limit, then call for a manager. Tell the manager,
if you don't enforce this rule, I'm going to put my items down, walk out and not return to this store.

Make the manager take responsibility for enforcing the rule.

I'm really fed up with people who feel entitled to ignore posted rules-whether in the supermarket
or driving (No one pays any attention to speed limits any more.) or talking in the theater, or...whatever.

But giving a ticket to the person who asked for the store to follow its own posted rule? That's down the rabbit hole.

19. Ah the divide. Rule followers, rule ignorers.
This is of course one of those RW parables that are put out as fact but it does happen. The point is to make the masses shut up as equating pointing out rule breaking is a criminal act.

I don't believe that the police would give a ticket to one and not the other if they decided to give a ticket at all. I would assume everyone would be done checking out before the FiveO got there.

I am a fat ugly woman and I applaud J for at least getting a lick in at rude and entitled. It landed if the story is true.

Rule follower here and it and this thread will not work on me. No I won't shut up and I will stand up for J if he does speak out.
