My eulogy for Jerry Falwell
This is the last time I'm going to mention Falwell tonight. I encourage others to keep discussing him if you feel the need to. He has had, undoubtebly for the worse, a huge impact on a lot of our lives and was a major player in shaping the GOP to what we know and despise today.

This message is directed to everyone who is disgusted at the hatred expressed at Falwell upon his passing: why does Jerry Falwell all of a sudden deserve respect just because he's dead? I didn't like him when he was alive and I'm certainly not going to pretend to like him just because he's no longer among the living. Has Falwell changed at all over the years to show he's a decent person deserving of respect? Not from I can tell. The Jerry Falwell that left the world today was still the same bigoted, homophobic, hate-filled bastard he was 25 years ago. If anything, he became worse over the years.

I'm not usually the sort to "dance on peoples' graves". I though some of the comments made when Gerald Ford died were ridiculous and out of line. I even refrained from saying anything bad about Reagan during his passing. But Jerry Falwell, as far as I can tell, hasn't done anything for anyone. The hate-filled garbage he preached set this country back 100 years.

I just hope that, wherever the hell he is now, he can look back upon his life and express regret for the decisions he made. And I also hope that, if he is able to read what has been wrote about him today here and elsewhere, he'll come to a sad realization that every negative comment said about him is true and deserving.

3. I just found one good thing he's done!!
Well, two.

In his dying, his evil deeds have ceased.

In his dying, he has united many DUers who are usually at each other's throats!

That's about as positive as I'm going to get.

This man was pure evil! EVIL!!!! Hear the shriek in my voice when I scream... EEEEEEVVVVVIIIIIILLLLL!!!

When one rejoices in the death of something evil, it's a very, very good thing.

4. I find his passing rather sad
because he didn't land squarely on top of Pat Robertson while he was on his way to hitting the floor.

Great chance to get rid of two hate-filled crackpots, but he failed the last test.

5. Hell, he was big enough to take
out more than just Robertson on his way down.

I posted on another thread so won't repeat all of it here, but suffice to say, I'm still smilin' that he's gone....for a lot of reasons, but the main one is that I have this twisted image in my head of him pissing all over himself when God showed up today and told him time's up fat fuck. Now you 'splain why you did what you did and oh, by the way, Jer, it's true - you get to watch a replay of your life and see all the pain you caused people by your actions. Then my boy, it's off to a nice warm place for eternity .... but don't worry, you have friends already there. They just can't get used to the fact they ain't in high places anymore....
