Conservative Bloggers Select The 25 Worst Figures In American History
Balloon Juice has an entry about the opinion of some wingnut bloggers concerning who the worst people in American history were. The results aren't altogether surprising, but clearly demonstrate how unhinged the voting participants are.

23 Saul Alinsky 7
23 Bill Clinton 7
23 Hillary Clinton 7
19 Michael Moore 7
19 George Soros 8
19 Alger Hiss 8
19 Al Sharpton 8
13 Al Gore 9
13 Noam Chomsky 9
13 Richard Nixon 9
13 Jane Fonda 9
13 Harry Reid 9
13 Nancy Pelosi 9
11 John Wilkes Booth 10
11 Margaret Sanger 10
9 Aldrich Ames 11
9 Timothy McVeigh 11

5 Benedict Arnold 17
5 Woodrow Wilson 17

9. It's not accurate to say GOP. Most of the blogs voting are ones I've never heard of.
That being said, the GOP in general does seem to vilify Carter to an unreasonable degree.

I was surprised to see Michael Moore and Noam Chomsky on the list. How do they even rank among the worst figures in American history? This list seem to prove that the participants are not overly familiar with American history at all if that's what they came up with.

13. This group really isn't known for their reading, thinking or understanding.
And it is frightening that they vote.

(I am referring to the people voting for the list, not the people on the list!!!)

3. Roosevelt huh?
The man that led America through the Great Depression and World War 2 only to emerge mere months after his death victorious and a global superpower that was the envy of the entire world?

Yeah, what an asshole, huh?

7. nah-he shot a Republican
Edited on Fri Aug-13-10 06:28 PM by abq e streeter
of course, there's the teensiest possibility that these folks might be just a wee bit short on their historical knowledge of what the Republican party was then...If my understanding is correct, apparently there was a slight bit of difference between Dubya, Cheney and Reagan etc. , and Abraham Lincoln, but we wouldn't want to confuse the poor dears with complexities like that. A right winger I know told me with a straight face, several weeks ago: "you know that Martin Luther King was a republican, don't you?

6. Carter should be proud.
He beat out the Communist-Socialist-Maoist-Marxist-Atheist-Muslin-Racist Christian-Kenyan president who was born and raised to become President and destroy this country by mocking God.

:eyes: These people are beyond unhinged. They are certifiable.

12. 'Pangloss' over at Balloon Juice has a funny comment about Carter...

How many have died because Jimmy Carter built all those houses out of flammable materials like wood?

14. I think Bill will be real disappointed.
Hillary will be sad too. To be so low on the list will offend them. I thought McVeigh was one of their freedom fighters?

15. Margaret Sanger!? Really!?
Edited on Fri Aug-13-10 07:40 PM by LostInAnomie
That is a perfect example of the insulated world that these people live in. My guess is that they hate her because she was a proponent of birth control. Honestly, who besides the most ridiculous extremists thinks birth control is one of the worst things even to happen to the US? Yet, there are literally millions that will just nod in agreement. Fucking ridiculous.

Tim McVeigh being so far down the list doesn't surprise me. If it wasn't for OKC the teabaggers would be in complete lock step with him.
