Poll question: President Obama, FIRE ROBERT GIBBS - Yes or No?
Gibbs says Obama wants to feel pressure from progressives. And what if the pressure is to fire Gibbs? What do you think, given all of the events of this week?

6. YES, yes, a thousand times yes! (But once again, an ad covers the vote button, so I can't vote.)
He has sabotaged the Party just three months before the elections, surely a firing offense.

Total rookie mistake. It's doesn't matter if Gibbs represents Obama's views perfectly or not, his statement was a huge political catastrophe right before an election. From a marketing or branding point of view, Gibb's failure could not have been more spectacular.

Political Marketing 101: Never, ever... ever insult voters.

If Gibbs stays, it says more about Obama than anyone else.

9. I Don't Consider Myself a Leftist by DU Standards
but his comments offended me. People have been axed for a lot less than that.

The Republicans may have taken the philosophy of never criticizing your most partisan wing to an extreme. That may not be a good long-term strategy. But this is a goddam circular firing squad. It's ridiculous to marginalize your own that way. And I think the proportion who's being marginalized is a lot more than Obama thinks.

14. I don't think so.
What he said was politically as stupid as it gets with 3 months to go before elections, but Obama would just replace him with another of the same type anyways, so what would anyone gain by his firing other than an afternoon's worth of feeling good? It would be symbolic, at best, and symbolism doesn't hold much sway with me.
