Rachel on Arizona's Brewer & the Corrections Corp of America

I've been meaning to write about the invisible beast, the prison-industrial complex, for a while, and Rachel Maddow just gave me the chance. This beast is fed when folks are sent to the slammer, and the beast feeds big bucks to Congress and the states to "make it so."

There's so much to say on this subject, and so much ignored research. But let's start with Rachel, whose place in the firmament is secure, if only for segments like these:

1. Glad she is covering that topic, we have a real high prison population.

Seems to high, especially for those without economic opportunity or minor offenses.

2. I first read the subject line to include "Corruptions Corp of America"

I guess it's a case of truth in Freudian slips.

3. It should be illegal.

Some things should only be done by government agencies. Military, police, courts, and incarceration should only be done by government employees and never performed by private contractors. There should be a clear dividing line like Church and state.
