Obama to sign $600M border security bill on Friday
WASHINGTON — Determined to show a commitment to stopping the flow of illegal immigrants, the Senate convened a special session on Thursday and passed a $600 million bill to put more agents and equipment along the Mexican border.

The voice vote in the nearly empty Senate chamber sends the legislation to President Barack Obama, who planned to sign it into law on Friday. Obama had urged Congress to channel more money toward border security amid complaints from states besieged by undocumented immigrants and illegal drug trafficking.

Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., the chief sponsor, said the measure would provide Obama and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano "with the boots on the ground and the resources necessary to combat the crime and violence."

Obama said the bill would help protect communities along the Southwest border and across the country.

"And this new law will also strengthen our partnership with Mexico in targeting the gangs and criminal organizations that operate on both sides of our shared border," he said in a statement.

House Democrats had also called a special session, summoning lawmakers back from their summer break on Tuesday to pass the border security bill and a $26 billion aid bill to keep teachers and other public workers from being laid off. Both issues — jobs and border security — are among those expected to be on voters' minds when they go to the polls in November.

6. Spending $600M on improving infrastructure would employ people too.
Without being rightwing-pandering, racist assholes.

who are avoiding Arizona. Those border towns must really be hurting right now. :(

8. When those "immigrants" are taking jobs
And they're undercutting American workers by working for crap wages, this IS an economic problem.

Also, spare me the "they do the jobs Americans won't do" BS. Employers fire Americans ALREADY doing those jobs, and replace them with these illegal workers.

It's not about race. It's about scab labor.

Guarding only the Mexican border is racist.

11. That's because Mexico is a bigger problem
When thousands of caucasian French-Canadians swarm into this country illegally, and refuse to learn English, there will be an outcry over them too.

For the record, I knew a Canadian illegal at the office. She was whiter than I am, with blonde hair and blue eyes. I reported her ass and got her fired. I'm hoping she was deported, but I'll never know.

Illegal is illegal, and race is irrelevant.

13. Here is a 2008 article talking about Illegals from Canada
Illegal immigrants from Canada steal US jobs

February 22, 2008 by Sabina ThakurUS citizens are unhappy with mass entry of illegal workers from bordering Canada, especially in the construction sector. They are particularly unhappy that such workers neither pay U.S. taxes nor contribute to US society in any manner and yet steal jobs of a U.S. citizen.

Get original file (9KB)

Immigrants from Canada can openly pass through Portland border which is mostly unguarded and unbothered by federal immigration authorities.
Reasons for these immigrants coming here are understandable though not admirable. He is just looking to work for 40 hours at a higher salary; though back home he has no problems of insecurity or family or education for his children.
These immigrants don’t want to buy a house or have a credit card and not even a movie-rental membership; thus no way contribute to US economy. In some instances, where these workers were injured, they had to do their own stitching of wounds as they could not afford medical costs. US feels that their goals and conduct is selfish to say the least. He takes health insurance from Canada but needs green card in US. He returns to BC, just six hours drive away. These workers are ready to work at fraction of the salary that a US citizen would lawfully get.
Currently about 70,000 undocumented Canadians work in the United States. US citizens feel that it is both a confirmation of the failures of U.S. current immigration policies and a testament to the absurdity of attempts to change them. The immigration debate in this country is, in fact, no longer a debate.

The Undocumented Canadians are taking proffesional jobs. Doctors, IT Proffesionals and others. Maybe that blind eye is more racist than you think!
