Gulf Oil Spill Health Effects: Tell Us Your Story

Here at HuffPost Green, we are hearing an increasing number of stories about serious health problems arising from exposure to chemicals in the Gulf region, from vomiting to memory loss to chemical-induced pneumonia. HuffPost Bloggers Jerry Cope and Rikki Ott have blogged about their first-hand experiences, and HuffPost's Jason Linkins has reported on a strange illness cleanup workers have experienced called TILT. Knowing the long-term health effects on Exxon-Valdez oil spill survivors, we want to to hear first-person stories about what's really going on in the Gulf. Do you live or work in the region and have experienced health effects you or doctors attribute to chemical exposure? Please tell us your story using the submission tool below.

This is a very important subject. Thanks for posting.

If the dangers are not widely talked about more and more people will be put at risk. We need to keep up the chatter.

5. I don't use Twitter, so am hoping those who do share the link..more chatter
more exposure to this cover-up and denial of the health effects.

More exposure, more likely MSM will investigate and make public.

There is a crime being committed by the denial of what is going on with people, marine life, and the future effects of those who will naively enter the waters because they didn't see the small biohazard warning at the beaches, or simply want to believe the EPA that it's okay to swim at your own risk. There is going to be a lot of future fallout with this, and getting the word out through Twitter and blogs now may help stave off more people becoming poisoned by this toxic chemical cocktail.

Please Twitter the link to share stories, and also this one from Huffington re: snapshot of some who are already affected and/or sharing what they know to be true about the dangers.

2. You have to sign up at HuffPo in order to "tell us your story".
That is off putting.

6. However, by getting the message out to talk about it via Twitter, am sure more people

will not necessarily use HuffPo as the medium. It doesn't take long for Twitter sharing to get people's attention from other Internet sites. Am hoping this may "set the ship a-fire" in spreading the real story about this criminal cover-up.

My 2yr. old grandson and friends are @ the beach right now. I'm sure I'll get a report on conditions later.

7. wow...hope they are not exposed to the toxins.
It seems to take a day or two for contaminated exposure to show up in the physical response, even sooner, depending on the amount of exposure.

When I read about the internal hemorrhaging occurring in the workers and marine wildlife being contaminated by this, am shocked that people are going to the beaches at all.

Hope your grandson and friends are not exposed, and suffer no ill effects

8. The wealthy and corp consider the common man
like tissues.....easily disposable...so much for their "right to life", family values. It amazes me how many of the common man accepts RW bs.

9. Am adding this DU thread link re: Truthout article
Edited on Fri Aug-13-10 01:48 PM by Whoa_Nelly
hoping that those can send it on through Twitter and blogs will get more people to speak up and out about the physical responses they have been experiencing by being exposed to Corexit, and who knows what else, artificially having been placed in the Gulf.

I don't use/have Twitter, and I don't blog, so am pushing this here in the hope that this MSM and politically tamped-down issue will rear it's ugly head in those faces, who are unwilling to admit openly or are complicit in keeping this unreported regarding the near and far-reaching devastating and life-threatening effects of this exposure to both humans and marine wildlife.

Excellent Truthout article here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x8939787

Please Twitter and blog away LOUDLY!

on edit:
<snip from the OP thread as from the Truthout article >

be sure to read this:

"We have dolphins that are hemorrhaging. People who work near it are hemorrhaging internally. And that's what dispersants are supposed to do…And, for example, in the Exxon Valdez case, people who worked with dispersants, most of them are dead now. The average death age is around 50. It's very dangerous, and it's an… economic protector of BP, not an environmental protector of the public."

14. Kick for the Saturday morning crew!
:hi: :loveya:

Hope those who can are sending the message out via Twitter and blogs. More people who know, more people who share their stories, the more likely the fuzzy logic of Teh Tubes will pick up on this as being a huge and worthy news item. Our Gulf friends, families and citizens need to be heard. The blatant and willful covering up about all this will most certainly result in more people suffering or dying.
Please help :loveya:
