Why didn't Stewart or Colbert mention the crap Gibbs spewed?
I was shocked they didn't make a big deal about the "professional left" stuff. Did I just miss it? I was also really surprised that Colbert did a "Michele shouldn't have gone to Spain" spot and didn't give the real facts. I kept waiting for him to give the punchline but it didn't happen. What gives?

6. Aha. I watched the Monday show and assumed the
rest of the week was reruns also. So why didn't they mention the Gibbs thing then?

people they don't represent.

and I think that may be a wise decision on their part.

8. Maybe they thought DU was handling it. There were certainly enough threads about it here.
It almost became Palinesque.

11. Because they were TOLD not to. That much should be obvious.
No one in their right mind could believe for a minute that Stewart didn't think Gibbs' comments were Comedy Gold. Two words: Marching Orders.

12. Stewart pretty much said the same thing to the hacks on Crossfire a few years back
he called both the left and right pundits out for being harmful braying jackasses.

Trying to marginalize what Gibbs said is kind of hard to do when people like Howard Dean and The Nation are talking about it.

18. DU and KO are the only places that I see any crying over this
It's making a mountain out of a mole hill and wasting precious time. BTW: I am still waiting for my pony too. But I am a little more patient than many.

21. Probably because they know that their audience could
give a crap about the issue. If nobody in their audience was listening, did Gibbs actually say something? Not everyone is looking for a reason to be outraged at the Obama Administration, you know.

29. perhaps they didn't think it was funny
You could probably write a comedy skit on it. Play Gibbs comments, then ask how did the professional left take this: and show countless editorials and interviews of Liberal commentators and writers complaining about Gibbs complaining about their constant complaining thus proving Gibbs correct. But is that funny? The other solution is the play the comment and then call Gibbs a bad name. Not exactly 5 minutes of air time killed there. So there probably isn't enough funny there.
