My friend had a heart attack about a year ago and has been seeing a cardiologist
He is big on stress. Always asks her how her stress level is. She was in there yesterday and he made a crack about 'Obamacare'. So she walked out, told him she was going to find a new cardiologist because it was too stressful for her to give her money to a doctor who is a wingnut tea bagger.

5. On the way out the door she should have told him that if he's
been happy with the insurance companies telling him how to treat his patients, he doesn't have to worry about that changing.

Several years ago my internist quit because he just couldn't stand dealing with the insurers any more. He became active in a single payer group and spent more time donating his services.

17. +1
It amazes me that in this alleged first-world country, for-profit agency beancounters are basically getting to tell doctors how to practice medicine.

all living creatures are subject to stress, i have learned to reach for pistol (in the immortal words of goebbels) when someone starts yakking abt stress...

a real doc would know that EVERYBODY has stress, and if you give "stress" as a reason/dx/excuse you are a scammer, almost gotta be

she'll get a better doc, it's a win/win that she walked out on this POS (piece of shit)

no heart attack was ever caused by stress or we'd all be dead, fuck me

13. It's another way of blaming the patient - aka "your faith wasn't pure enough"
And coming from an idiot teabagger, faith healing was probably the next treatment in line.

8. Every MD I know is very concerned about the new health laws
The vast majority do not oppose the concepts but are very concerned about a screwed up implementation done by those with no experience in health care. So far there is some justification for their concern.

11. My doctor (internist) is Korean, and he is ALWAYS disparaging Middle Eastern folks
we came to an agreement after my last brain tumor, no more politics between us, period.

Than again I've been back once (I think) in 3 years. They even told me when I got the flu last year it was my fault for not getting a flu shot even though they had run out in September. My wonderful endocrinologist takes care of me.

People who should be in the healing profession NEVER make comments like this.

22. That's a terrifying story.
I'd love a link to be able to read the entire story.

You're right, no one in healthcare should be making comments like that. If it was me I would complain to try to get them fired. But I would only complain after leaving the hospital so they couldn't retaliate while I was sick.

It would interesting to research how many conservative extremists were in healthcare, teaching or any field where empathy or compassion were needed. By the way these extremists attack teachers I don't understand how any teacher could be a conservative extremist. I also can't see how any conservative extremist could be good as psychologists, caregivers or any other position requiring empathy or compassion. They believe in a dog-eat-dog, predatory world where the vulnerable should be preyed upon by the rich and powerful. They routinely ridicule and condemn the poor, the weak and the vulnerable.

21. Are there different treatments for Arabs?
I thought of a lot of come-backs to that tech's question, but I probably wouldn't think of one if I was sick. But when he asked you if you were an Arab you could have responded by saying "No, just give me the breathing treatment for Americans".

Do you have any idea what provoked the tech to even ask such a dumb question? I sure wouldn't want a conservative extremist treating me. I wouldn't trust them. If you said you were a liberal he could intentionally expose you to a staph infection. The level of hate coming from the right wing is scary.
