Are Republicans becoming a regional party?
http://politicalwire.com/archives/2010/08/12/are_republicans_becoming_a_regional_party.html

"The GOP has a HUGE generic-ballot edge in the South (52%-31%), but it doesn't lead anywhere else. In the Northeast, Dems have a 55%-30% edge; in the Midwest, they lead 49%-38%; and in the West, it's 44%-43%."

1. Lets hope so!
I can't believe that educated Republicans buy into this racist/hate-mongering. Even the Chamber of Commerce spews hate. Some group.

2. Not Totally Accurate.....
Besides the south, the GOP is strong in the Rocky Mtn states as well as 3/4 of all rural districts/counties in the United States. While Americans expect to have public services, they still have this engrained fear of the government and the GOP plays on that fear in every election cycle (then when they get elected, they spend our tax dollars like drunken sailors).

3. They are becoming the non-party they always were.

4. Let's Explore This Question Again Later In November
Let's explore this question again later in November; I still remember 1994 with dismay and the fat, dumb, and happy attitude of Democratic politicians before that election. While I personally believe that the Republican party, especially its more radical Tea Party faction, has done a great job of driving off moderate and even moderate-conservative voters, this autumn's ballots haven't been counted. If enough progressive and moderate voters stay home and play sleepy-bunnies, pout because President Obama isn't quite what they wanted, or do their own version of the fizzled "Slacker Rebellion" (Where millions of young people were registered to vote but didn't bother to vote in the 2004 elections), a lot of those right-wing lunatics WILL get elected,

I think the tide is slowly turning against "Movement Conservatism" and the Republican Party in much of the country even without changing racial demographics, but the reactionaries still stand a good chance of getting elected if the good guys do nothing.
