Another fundy 'pastor' gets whacked and arrested.
Edited on Mon Aug-09-10 11:40 AM by CurtEastPoint
From Atlanta JC:

Warner Robins police say they've charged pastor Donald Crosby with picketing without a license for protesting Warner Robins High School's "Demon" nickname and mascot.

Police spokeswoman Tabitha Pugh says 36-year-old Crosby was arrested on Monday after police told him he didn't have a permit, as required by the city. Crosby and supporters set up the protest outside the school on the opening day of classes because of their opposition to the nickname. He says his son attends the school and he doesn't want him exposed to the name's connotations.

Principal Steve Monday says the mascot originated during World War II and was adopted in honor of a fighter squadron nicknamed the "Screamin' Demons." He says the nickname is patriotic.

Pugh says Crosby, of Kingdom Builders Church of Jesus Christ, is charged with picketing without a license and disorderly conduct for not leaving when asked. Crosby was released from the Houston County jail on bond. He did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment.

I wonder how embarrassed the son is? Or is he?

1. I've NEVER heard that you had to have a license to picket?
WTF? Is this just a Georgia thing?

4. Picketing without a license?
Wow, let's all move to Georgia where the cops have so little to do that this becomes a crime. Unless, of course, Pastor Crosby was disrupting two-a-day football practices, which is a serious offense.

But back to the idea that a license is required to exercise one's right to speak freely. I wonder if that's constitutional?

8. We have a high school
whose land was donated by an imperial wizard of the kkk. The school's mascot reflects that donation, although most of the kids haven't been apprised of that fact.

Anyway, it was supremely sweet when that band was chosen to march in Obama's inaugural parade.

11. No, time/place restrictions are mostly upheld.
As long as they are equally applied.

10. My school was the Red Devils.
Wait a minute - got to spin my head and hurl split pea soup. There, I feel better. Been doing that since high school.
