OMG Michelle Obama went to Spain w/ her daughter ..... this hugh!

Michelle Obama took her youngest daughter on a vacation to Spain as her oldest daughter was at summer camp but the
cable news media and even columnists outside of the the right wing talkers, who always slam the President no matter
what, have been highly critical of this trip. Why? Where were these people when W took a month off after getting a
CIA briefing that "Bin Laden wants to attack the United States?" Where were these people when W took off to his pretend
ranch that was built w/ the help of Enron for huge chunks of his Presidency?

So let me see if I got this right President Obama stayed and worked at his job as his wife and daughter took a vacation
and that is a bad thing?

2. How much do you figure that vacation is costing tax payers?

3. I assume you are compiling all the data of $ being spent by millionaires to fill

political offices (home page-Yahoo link) so that you can compile the data and print it up and pass it around or make signs or videos to educate people about the phenonema of wealthy (mostly Republicans) running for government offices.

Sounds like your compiling vecation days versus degree of depression of the country instead.

wants HUGE HUGE tax cuts for the rich, that are HELPING to ruin the economy, to stay in place. No way Michelle and her daughter can spend that kind of money, no way would it last for another TEN YEARS, like Bush gave the rich.

5. It cost the taxpayers less the amount the Obamas give to charity every year

and if you could show me that one person who is hurting could have been helped by Michelle not going
then I might give your argument some credit.

BTW the Obamas gave up millions of dollars to do work for the poor and the underemployed after Obama
finished law school.

7. Many us of gave up opportunities to make fabulous money to help those that are less fortunate.

However that is not a good excuse to exercise conspicuous consumption when so many is this country are without homes, jobs and even food.

BTW nice photo opps, but how much time do the Obamas really spend since they have been in WH serving people, like delivering food, versus how much time are they spending indulging themselves on vacations, and other luxuries?

I think it would be better for Obamas and for the country if they spend less time living so luxuriously and set a better example that they can be a good leaders and live well without behaving so materialistically while they are in public office, and hopefully thereafter as well.

We want change not this nonsense we are being treated too.

6. Well, if they followed Bush's travel example it'd only cost ...

American taxpayers roughly $20,000,000.00! So says the venerable Media Matters:

President Bush took 149 trips to Camp David, 77 visits to his Crawford ranch, and 11 trips to his father's Kennebunkport mansion. Since Air Force One reportedly cost $56,800 per hour to operate in 2004 (which Bush used to get to Crawford), and the plane can travel up to 630 miles per hour, it cost at least $259,657 to get the 2,880 miles to Crawford and back, each time Bush went, or roughly $20 million dollars just for taking the plane on the Crawford trips alone. Add in the cost of putting up Secret Service and other staff for the ranch trips, as well as the Kennebunkport and Camp David trips, and you get, well, a lot.
