Turning Point - Justice Elena Kagan
This will be a brief post to note a turning point in American history. Much like the election of Barack Obama as President, it is difficult to completely appreciate the historic nature of the nomination of Elena Kagan to the U.S. Supreme Court in the same way that it will be appreciated decades from now...

3. How exactly is that?
Her record in the past is not overly liberal, she has no judicial record to show she has a history of standing up for the American people and their rights, and she is replacing a judge that we could always count on to find on behalf of the common man.

No, this is no turning point, this is just a path for more of the same.

5. Many have confidence in Justice Kagan -- and I certainly hope they are correct --
we need a true liberal/progressive on the court -- an anti-corporatist --

Hope she's it!!

But, meanwhile, keep Justice Thurgood Marshall's advice in mind --

when he was retiring and many were questioning what Poppy Bush would do --

Would he consider it a "black' seat -- ???

Marshall warned: "It's not the color of a snake that is important --

it's whether or not the snake bites!"

Poppy Bush appointed the right wing pervert Clarence Thomas to the court in one

of the most disgraceful rw manuevers -- and which paved the way for 2000!!

Keep in mind, it's not only color -- I'm sure you can find a "Judas" in any group --

women, homosexuals, whatever!!
