So can we just say that there IS NO RECOVERY?
time to try something that works...

http://www.cnbc.com/id/38590746

U.S. employment fell for a second straight month in July as more temporary census jobs ended while private hiring rose less than expected, pointing to an anemic economic recovery.

11. When the Repigs held up the Unemployment Benefits
they slowed the recovery considerably -all that money would have been spent immediately and would have made a big difference if it hadn't been delayed for almost an entire month. The Democrats have put forward numerous bills intended to help fire up the economy. GOP has blocked everything that it possibly could with the help of one of two lame-ass DINOs in the Senate. What we need is less Repigs and DINOs.

AND YES, THIS SHIT ECONOMY IS THE FAULT OF BUSH AND EVERY IDIOT IN THIS COUNTRY THAT VOTED FOR HIM. THE DAMAGE HE DID IS SO GREAT IT WILL PROBABLY TAKES DECADES TO UNDO IT ALL.

You have a pretty low post count to be gunning so hard for the Dems right now, just saying.

6. Clinton didn't have to deal with an economy that was on the verge of a Depression
It's a complete and utter shambles, and I doubt if Clinton would have done any better had it been anywhere near as bad when he took office.

7. sounds good... but the "Shrub's fault excuse" won't hold water in 2012.
at least not with MOST of the population.

14. Big Dog signed the repeal of Glass-Steigal
which is reason why the banks and big financial institutions were so over-exposed to risk -thus the economic crash that we are suffering through now.

He also signed NAFTA, which is also a big reason why the jobs situation is so shitty right now.

He did some good stuff, but cooperated with the GOP a lot more than Obama ever has and the negative effects of that cooperation are being felt today.

Clinton did a lot of things right but he also had the huge internet bubble on his side, something that has long since disappeared or shipped overseas; also, Reagan left the country fucked but not completely FUBAR the way that bastard bush did

8. I haven't seen the smallest sign of any recovery here.
In fact another couple I know is leaving the state because the husband couldn't find work here. I wish them good luck wherever they end up.

15. good question...
Edited on Fri Aug-06-10 05:46 PM by GSLevel9
maybe 5% unemployment, fair wages... low inflation, progressive policies to promote economic justice... single payer healthcare...

to get there... the gov't needs tax proceeds pouring in, from corporations and wealthy folk making MORE $$...

Simple economic plan. Encourage Corporate America to make tons of money, tax the hell out of them and fund programs that help normal people.

YOU CAN'T PRINT MONEY TO DEVELOP PROGRESSIVE AGENDAS...

18. there will be no recovery until the govt addresses the redistribution of wealth that has occurred
since the Reagan administration.

the suppression of wages to give money to the wealthy, the validation of shareholder profits, who do NOTHING to create wealth or product, over rewarding the American worker for his or her labors is the problem.

The last thirty years of attacks on the idea of an American common wealth, a community space, on the very idea of human rights as the basis for health care, housing, education - and the basis for a strong democracy - these are the problems that must be addressed.

For profit and private is not the the way to create a healthy society. Unfortunately, this cult-think of the "free market" is the economic equivalent of creationism - even when faced with overwhelming evidence that such an idea is unsupportable by reality, those who benefit by deluding others continue to propagate this lie.

We see this, still, with the attempts to break up the teachers union now. We saw this with NAFTA. We saw this with Bush's tax cuts. We saw this with Paulsen and Geithner's attitudes toward the bank fraudsters.

If our politicians don't get a clue sooner rather than later, I hope that, when the riots start, the rioters head to Wall Street rather than main street.

21. There is no recovery.
See, I knew you could.

If there is it ain't no place that I see. Small businesses are dropping like flies, I have never seen so many people unemployed for so long. Yet they tell us that if Wall St is rocking it must be OK. They also tell us that the crisis is over in the Gulf. In either case, they don't live in the same world that we do.
