Any DUers watched that Anderson Cooper interview

with Hitchins last night - it was a fascinating discussion on suicide (Hitchins mother committed suicide and Anderson talked about his brother), the ridiculous notion of closure, god and death.

Hitchins looks terrible from chemo and weight loss, but they won't break his atheistic spirit for anything.

Love Hitchens. Might not be the most popular thing to say here, but I do! I really hope he can beat this thing.

Re suicide and the 'ridiculous notion of closure' Hitchins was first to strongly make that point.. and Anderson Cooper then agreed.. IIRC..

And because Hitchins thought that if his mother had reached him by phone, which she was apparently trying to do, that he might have talked her out of taking her life, I would think that it must make it more difficult for him to come to something resembling "closure'.

And if he were ever to read these posts :) I would say that chemotherapy is a poison, yes it is..

But I preferred to think of chemo as aiding my body to get rid of the cancer..

Maybe a subtle difference in perception..
