Vietnam--Not worth the Life of a Single American Boy---
On this day in 1964, Senator Ernest Gruening said that Vietnam was "not worth the life of a single american boy." If only people
had listened.

In 2002, these brave senators voted against the Iraq War Resolution. Let us not forget who did and who didn't

1. I pity our victims more
This whiny shit sticks in my craw. We slaughtered a million Vietnamese and yet whine about our poor boys. God only knows how many Iraqis our tax dollars paid to have removed from this earth.

America is a sick nation that has never owned up to its crimes.

2. We ought to be concerned about ALL war victims, including "our poor boys"
I knew more than 60 guys who died in Vietnam. Honoring their memory doesn't prevent me from caring about all the losses, including the "enemy" and the civilians caught in the middle.

That's not "whiny shit".

5. Surprised
I was surprised that someone criticized Sen. Gruening's wish to save American boys from the deaths that were to come. The point is that the deaths of so many Americans and Vietnamese could have been prevented if more Congresspersons would have been brave enough to oppose the warmongers.
Just as the deaths of Americans and Iraqis could have been prevented if more Senators would have voted "no" for the Iraq War Resolution.

I wanted to give credit where credit was due.

Policymakers who speak out and work for peace deserve all the credit we can give them.
