Wa-Po, school deform supporter, owns Kaplan Inc: guilty of fraudulent biz practices

Man, the ed deform corruption just keeps Piling Higher & Deeper.

That's PhD, as in the expensive, useless degrees you can get at for-profit Kaplan Colleges, owned by the Washington Post Company:

"Kaplan Higher Education is a group of institutions that offer fixed-facility and online certificate and degree programs in fields such as criminal justice, health care, business, information technology and legal studies. Iowa College Acquisition Corporation, operating under the Kaplan University brand<4>, also offers online programs, and had approximately 37,000 students in 2007.<2> Kaplan also owns the online Concord Law School. Outside the United States, Kaplan operates Dublin Business School in Ireland, which offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in business and the liberal arts, and Asia Pacific Management Institute (APMI Kaplan) in Hong Kong / Singapore."

This week Kaplan was found to be among the 15 colleges the General Accounting Office found to be engaging in fraudulent & questionable practices (like encouraging prospective students to falsify their applications & tax returns in order to get student aid, for example). See the video AT THE LINK here:

http://www.schoolsmatter.info/2010/08/15-for-15-corrupt-for-profits-named.html

Kaplan also offers -- wait for it -- TEST PREPARATION (to pass all the new tests the school deformers are putting into place) & EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS (one-size fits all material to sell to the new education factories the school deformers are putting into place).

SYNERGY, BABY! The WaPo talks up ed deform, which feeds its other arm!

Which happens to be a corrupt lying sack of fraud corporation which lies to students to get them to take out government-backed student loans for useless degrees at double or triple or quadruple or quintuple the cost of the same degree from a public institution.

Students at these for-profit companies multiple times more likely to default on their students loans than any other population.

But Kaplan gets its check -- on the taxpayers' dime.

WHAT A RACKET. THAT'S ED DEFORM, BABY! YOU'RE GOING TO LOVE THE BRAVE NEW WORLD OF BULLSHIT DEGREES THAT COST A SMALL FORTUNE & KEEP YOU IN DEBT SLAVERY FOREVER.
