8. Seems a reasonable balance
All we need is just ONE mark on the left side of that board, and it'll justify each and every last mark on the other side. Besides, how many of those marks on the right side do you know? Besides, think how much shorter the checkout lines are at the supermarket! Why concentrate on the gloom and doom?

The French (and then the US) driven from Indochina.

The Brits driven from Ireland.

The French driven from Haiti.

The Batista regime (i.e.- the US) driven from Cuba.

These oppressors were not about to leave without ardent persuasion, including the use of firearms.

In fact, the number of nations who shed their colonial yokes without armed resistance is comparatively few.

11. You just posted the only pro-gun post I concur with (recently).
I would add the Czars out of Russia.

12. How many of the mentioned countries have a "2nd Amendment"?

13. Maybe not the specific amendment but the guns were obviously there.
Hell even that great anarchist Orwell said in a letter that a rifle over every fireplace was a good thing. And of course many of the Russian soldiers returning from the lost idiotic Czarist front against Germany brought their weapons home. This also happened in prior wars.

Plus when I lived in Poland in 1992 I learned that many people had permits for weapons (rifles, handguns, shotguns...) during the socialist period plus a ton were just laying around anyway.

18. Here's a +1 for the other side..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Athens_%281946%29

The Battle of Athens (sometimes called the McMinn County War) was a rebellion led by citizens in Athens and Etowah, Tennessee, United States, against the local government in August 1946. The citizens, including some World War II veterans, accused the local officials of political corruption and voter intimidation.
