Happy Talk That Oil is "Evaporating Rapidly" So, What the Hell is This?

From my friend, Christa Rock, shot in Plaquemines Parrish, Louisiana last week:

-snipping video, which you can see at the link above-

I'm very disappointed in the Obama administration and the happy talk they're putting out from the White House how everything is okey dokey, and the all the oil just disappeared. After BP put 5 million barrels into the open ocean? Don't think so. This video asserts that the oiling of the beaches is getting worse, not better. Dead fish everywhere, right on the beaches.

Serious disconnect here between the spin and the reality.

1. it's the typical white wash...
launch the meme, pump it, and soon people repeat it. Presto! It only exists for the people who actually have to live with it.

2. Any thinking human being knows that the oil did not just disappear.
I share your concern for the media hype about the magical recovery.

3. This happy talk is bullshit, plain and simple.
What the hell is wrong with Obama?

I am seriously upset with him over this, among other things.

6. Toxic rain in PA???
Do you have a source on that? I haven't heard that at all. Thank you.

We have acid rain here, but it is from coal-fired power plants.

three months or so. I have chemical sensitivities and have done all that I can to limit my exposure to them (organic foods, cleaners, clothing, etc). Now I can't escape the headaches and sore joints that come with the daily rains here. I'm pissed beyond belief that BP was not FORCED to stop using that crap. Arrests should have been made!

8. Anything like this one? (link to vid from Springfield MO 7/27)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ethcHBUVHY

"Toxic Rain In Springfield, Mo July 2010
July 27th in Springfield , Missouri we got a good rain. But yet, it was not so good. It killed my gourd plants(well, at least alot of them. ) It left black areas that seemed to have soaked into the leaves. I took pictures a few hours after the rain, and took some more pictures today. I also posted a video from july 19th of the gourds. I don't know for sure what was in the rain, but it came from the south I believe and some of the leaves have what looks like watery oil on the deteriating areas. This just doesn't seem right at all."

I've never seen anything like it. And evidently they've had rain since that is OK, regular old rain.

7. The owner of a local business was asking me if I knew anything about this today
I told her about the millions of gallons of highly toxic Corexit that have been pumped and sprayed into our Gulf. She had never even heard of it and was completely appalled.

14. Story, meet back burner
Why do I have this feeling that the truth about the dispersants and the outrage about it will only be known and felt respectively by liberals and academics? Like global warming and poverty, the facts and supporting evidence in this case will be framed as "liberal paranoia", in my opinion. I could be wrong, but I've seen this movie before. The media jumps off of a story in unison as quickly as they jump on it. A very real problem is swept under the rug, as people not directly affected get to "move on".

16. I'm sorry, but the light fraction of that oil not only evaporated by some dissolved as well
Edited on Fri Aug-06-10 05:56 PM by jpak
and the "dispersed" oil is not "gone"

It was transformed from large visible aggregates into smaller invisible micron-sized droplets - and it's still there and you can measure it.

FYI
