Proposal: Second Amendment repeal campaign
I wonder how teabaggies will react to the idea of someone tampering with their favorite part of the constitution.

3. I think they should have a prank pulled on their idiot asses
Have this campaign presented in utter sincerity so they can get worked up into a lather and spew all kinds of nonsense about messing with a sacred document...

...then shove their own words down their throats when they cry about the 14th Amendment.

in the interests of preserving "traditional marriage"?

8. Not even as a prank?
The point is to catch them weeping over a threat to the constitution and throw it back on them, for what they're proposing to do with the 14th Amendment.

17. While I can enjoy the evil-ness of it, I think it might cause more harm than good.
Seriously, the reptards aren't serious about repealing / amending the constitution- they know that's a Don Quixote idea only useful to gin up agit prop with a certain section of xenophobic rednecks.

Even proposing a counter-measure (even in jest) lends it too much credibility.

I just want to put their heads between two trash can lids and clang them until they see stars. Then tell them they don't look so good, maybe they should see a doctor.

It's about how sacred the right feels the constitution is. Threaten their favorite amendment and I guarantee you they will go ape shit. But they'll also give lots of ammo to anyone who wants to break their campaign to repeal the 14th Amendment.

Comes second only to free speech, you know?
The teabaggers would actually LOVE to repeal that one, if only for "special" people...like you and me...

18. I like the second amendment though...
my favorite part comes when the nut job starts telling me how they've got a cache for when the revolution comes and they need to defend themselves from the godless liberals. I tell them I support the 2nd amendment and I am the militant godless liberal of their bete noir. I've got nicer guns though.

23. One...
What makes you think that the 2nd amendment is not a favorite part of the Constition of non-Tea Baggers?

Two... What's your favorite amendment?

Three... What amendment are they "tampering with" this time?

24. Some teabaggers want to get rid of the 14th Amendment.
They say its enabled abortion on demand, gay rights, and all sorts of other liberal malfeasance over the years.

Obviously they don't realize they are playing with fire. Once we start repealing amendments, when does it stop?

27. Ok... so it's "some" Tea Baggers...
that are against the 14th amendment (primarily because of abortion and/or gay rights), and not the entire organization (near as I can tell, neither issue is part of their official platform).

So, all because of some Tea Baggers, the OP suggests (perhaps in jest), that a movement should be started to repeal the 2nd amendment; even when it's common knowledge here that many DU'ers/Democrats enjoy and support it just as much as their Tea Bagging counterparts do.

To what avail?

I'll agree that by and large a good deal of Tea Baggers resent/oppose gay rights and/or the right to choose rulings, but those beliefs are mired more in religious beliefs than political ones.

A good portion of the Baggers are Libertarians and would just like government out of personal affairs... be it abortion, gay marriage or the RKBA.

Want to really raise the blood pressure of those most opposed to gay/womens rights?

Start a movement to repeal the 1st amendment... specifically the freedom of religion.

That should get those most responsible dander up. :smoke:

If rights can be put up for a vote as they were in Prop 8, then the so called "right" to bear arms should be put up for a vote and taken away when it is defeated.
