Good LORD, here they go again.
I was yet again copied on an email that is pure horse shit, however you know many won't actually disprove it but will simply forward it on. If you get an email like this, PLEASE send them the following link from Snopes:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/taxes/hr3590.asp

The email making the rounds is as follows:

1. Here's the thing: if they don't lie, they've got nothing.
So why are we surprised that the right lies?

2. "When Republicans Don't Lie, They Have Nothing to Say"
How about that for a campaign slogan?

4. Just yesterday I did a "REPLY ALL" to an email claiming that President Obama
"ordered" the USPS to issue a stamp celebrating a Muslim Holiday.

It said in the letter that snopes confirmed it.

Of course that was a lie..and I included the real snopes article in my reply.

I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE ..ESPECIALLY PEOPLE I KNOW...SEND ME THAT CRAP.

I sure hope I pissed off the sender and I do not get any more mail like that.

8. I have received this one TWICE
from "friends" and both times sent the Snopes truth to Reply All. Why do the offenders always get mad at YOU for sending them the truth about their propaganda e-mail but they think it is just fine to send you their garbage? Whenever I reply to their lies, I always ask them why they would forward on any e-mail they receive without first checking the facts to see if it is true or more propaganda. Idiots All!!

16. I concur. I have asked about the fact checking on the other end..no response..
so if the sender will not do the fact checking before forwarding, I feel that it is incumbent upon me to do it and share my findings with all recipients and the sender.

If they do not like it, they can stop sending me emails. SO there!! x( :hi:

9. I usually ignore crap like that...however, once I did a furious reply all to one
about drilling in Alaska and how the bears can adapt and how blah, blah, blah...this was even before the Gulf Apocalypse...I pissed off some people who needed to be pissed off.

12. I was called a "pinco commie" with my last "reply all"

They can never spell anything right!

I finally asked to be removed from the mailing lists -- resulting in a family drama and hurt feelings -- but I can't afford to have my blood pressure increase every time one of THOSE emails lands in my inbox.

Oy.

24. That's the other thing that makes me
crazy. These people INVARIABLY simply forward the right-wing crap to everyone in their address book, and so every single other person that the screed has been sent to, or is being sent to, has their email address readily available to anyone and everyone who wants it. No wonder there's so much spam arriving in my mailbox.

25. I have added this as an automatic message on all my emails.
You may use it if you wish..

Tips to keep private email addresses out of the hands of spammers:
1. Avoid giving your or anyone else's email address to any website.
2. Instead of forwarding email, cut and paste the text.
3. For group emails, use the "bcc:" (Blind Carbon Copy) field instead of
"to:".
(Put your own address or a fake address in the "to:" field).
4. Want to do more? Attach this text as a custom signature to the bottom of
all your outgoing email.

Thank you,

Embarrass the bejeezus out of the idiot who sent it to you by humiliating him/her in front of his whole "forward" list.

10. So when the repugs were crying that
auto workers were making $75 an hour was that a lie then? Because that's what they were basing their claim on, the cost of benefits, ie health insurance. They want it both ways.

Auto workers already have to pay taxes on our legal services benefit (whether you use it or not) thanks to ronnie of raygun

15. Excellent point...
Good call! There are so many issues on which they want it both ways... the wind blows in the opposite direction from the "Librul" opinion.

It may be time for good old fashioned reverse psychology... these asshats aren't near bright enough to figure it out.

11. You'll need this, too, if you're going to engage them

They've decided Snopes is a liberal conspiracy, funded by George Soros. They have to keep making shit up to get away from those pesky facts that we keep throwing at them.

Here's the Snopes info, letting people know George Soros isn't involved whatsoever.

http://www.snopes.com/info/faq.asp

Advertising and Finances:

Q: Who pays you to maintain this site?

A: Snopes.com is a completely independent entity which is wholly owned by its operators, Barbara and David Mikkelson. We have no sponsors, investors, or partners, nor do we have any affiliation or relationship (financial or otherwise) with any political party, religious group, business organization, government agency, or any other outside group or persons. We pay all the costs of producing and operating this web site ourselves and derive our income from the advertising revenues it provides.

Q: Are you funded by George Soros?

A: We are completely self-supporting; we receive no funding from any person, group, agency, or organization. And we wouldn't recognize George Soros if we sat next to him on a bus. :eyes:

21. This email is definitely true in...
... the alternate universe where John McCain won the Presidental Election.

IIRC I think he wanted to make health care plans taxable across the board.

Otherwise of course, the email is incorrect.
