For all the RWers who say the America was founded on the Christian religion.
The treaty of Tripoli signed into law by John Adams disagrees. Article 11: As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

1. Sorry but that is just a treaty and has no standing with the nit wits
assertions that America was founded on christian beliefs. Remember nit wits only accept writings that back up their beliefs anything that proves those beliefs to be wrong they ignore or declare they aren't viable for any made up reasoning ( if you can call it reasoning ) the nit wits pull out of their ass, even if it means using documents from another point in history that they believe shows proof of their belief.

12. you mean the articles of confederation or declaration of independence?
What people don't understand is that they're not actual founding documents of this country. I even had someone quote the Mayflower Compact as a justification that the US is a Christian nation. Because you know, the Mayflower Compact still has legal precedence here in America.

17. That's true
But the supreme law of the land doesn't specify any sort of ecclesiastical foundation of the country. I keep making the argument that if Christianity was so important to the founding fathers and they wanted to make this a 'christian nation', that some sort of language to that effect would have been included in there. That argument just seems to go right over their heads though.

4. Show me where Christ, Christianity, Jesus, Nazareth, Bethlehem, Joseph, Mary,
disciples, or the three wise men are mentioned in the Declaration of Independence or the US Constitution.

Seems like if we are a Christian nation those would at least have a mention or two, huh?

Hell "lamb" is not even in either of 'em!

13. It was gounded on the concept of religious neutrality. Of not having
a religious government, but a totally secular and neutral government, to allow whatever religion.
An open society, so to speak. It was a reaction to religious persecution and intolerance in Europe from whence they fled, to escape said persecution and intolerance.
However, the history of the USA also includes the fact, that, as soon as they got here, they began to try to find ways to persecute and not allow religions, other than their own.
So they became, in many instances, what they hated and wanted to escape.

15. One way to shut them up

I ask this:

What does the Christian religion say about Freemasonry?

The most common answer is that they are a secret devil worshipping cult.

I spout this little tidbit:

http://watch.pair.com/mason.html

"Some of the greatest names of the American Revolution were Masons: Ethan Allen, Edmund Burke, John Claypoole, William Daws, Benjamin Franklin, John Hancock, John Paul Jones, Robert Livingston, Paul Revere, Colonel Benjamin Tupper, and George Washington. Of the 56 signers of The Declaration of Independence, eight were known Masons and seven others exhibited strong evidence of Masonic membership. Of the forty signers of the Constitution, nine were known Masons, 13 exhibited evidence of Masonic membership, and six more later became Masons.

Finally, I challenge them to name me one value that is unique to Christianity. While they try to come up with one, I walk away.
