I hope the "independents" that have drifted away over the past year are noticing something....

...the absolute ugliness of the right wing following this prop 8 ruling.

The attacks on the judge. The vicious attacks on gays.

I believe that most independents are "fair-minded", even if politically naive and wishy-washy.

They are usually socially liberal and fiscally conservative.

For the most part, and polls show this, they aren't anti-gay marriage. Especially those under 50 years old.

I really hope they're paying attention to the teabaggery... and that they remember that in November.

1. Absolutely

The behavior yesterday when the demoltion at the mosque site was approved in New York was of the same variety. To them freedom doesn't mean freedom for everyone, it means freedom from the freedom of others.

2. As a true independent - and by that
I mean one who has never ascribed to a political party - I find your comments about independents' both politically naive and offensive.

It takes quite a bit of effort to examine all sides of an issue and decide on its merits - rather than simply allowing a political party to tell you what to think. You do your presumed liberalism a real disservice by spouting talking points and pointing to polls instead of taking the time to learn why many people choose not to affiliate with a political party.

It's so special that you deign to believe most independents are 'fair-minded' - it's certainly more than can be said for your comments.

3. Let's see...independents in quotation marks,
I believe that most independents are "fair-minded", even if politically naive and wishy-washy.
Oh, you sweet talker you, these sort of comments should bring in independent support in droves.

Hint: don't volunteer to phone or go door to door for the party if you really want Dems to win this November.
