Ugh, why am I being bombarded with the likenesses of Fred Thompson and * beseeching me to tell Congress to keep the Bush tax cuts alive here on DU?

Since I can't really afford to donate, I understand that I have to put up with ads. But this seems like mixing shit and salt together, and rubbing it on an open wound. Does DU have any control over what ads runs on this site?
