6. I have strained relations with my on family because of the

views they have. I am hetero but have no problem with homosexuality.
I cannot visit them for any length of time without having to endure some off color racist joke or bigoted discussion.
I have been less than tolerant of them lately and it comes out in an angry fashion so I have been avoiding being around them.
It's a sad situation but I feel better about myself because I am standing up for what is right. My own sister is much older than me and actually quoted the Leviticus passage about men laying down with men. I did not continue the argument of how absurd picking and choosing certain sins and ignoring others was ridicules. They like football and obviously wear cotton and polyester fabrics yet those two sins are just as bad as men laying down with men. Touching the skin of a dead pig and wearing mixed cloth in clothes are also forbidden sins in Leviticus.

They are too old to change and life is too short to spend it convincing bigots to change.

Is somebody who believes a what an old book says, really an intolerant homophobic bigot?
Is somebody who doesn't give a crap about gay people one way or another, really an intolerant homophobic bigot?
Is somebody who believes as President Obama does, really an intolerant homophobic bigot?
Or are we talking about people who actually fear gay people and act in seriously harmful ways to punish them physically and mentally?

Being intolerant of others who are intolerant is one thing. Being intolerant of others who don't feel as deeply, emotionally or to the same extreme of you, is another.
