Poll question: What is the single most important issue for you during the Obama Administration
Edited on Wed Aug-04-10 06:29 PM by DainBramaged
This is tough, so many issues, so little time. I've done my best to list the things that concern me but not in any order.

Thanks for voting.

2. Other: Ending the war on public education, teachers, and teachers' unions,
and enacting policies that actually enable public schools to excel.

There are a few others that are equally important:

Ending the bogus war on terror and the MIC drain on the national budget.

Getting the profit, and insurance companies, out of the health care system.

Restoration of civil liberties.

Election reform: 100% public financing of elections.

4. Ending the wars on ALL working people..............
I voted ending the recession, but I would have voted for economic justice and equality if it had been on there. Although all of the above would have worked too.

7. I think you can work most of the other issues as recession issues
working on Global warming, immigration reform, ending wars, alternative energy, equality all count as ideas that will go towards fixing the economy...

24. Me too. And not that bait-n-switch health "insurance" reform either!
(which was nothing more than health insurance protection anyway).

6. Climate change reform
because if we decided today to pursue alternative forms of energy we'd put people to work improving the economy, reduce our dependence of foreign oil and do away with the real reason we are in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Cute kitty!

12. I think the biggest problem facing us is climate change.
We're already past the point where baby steps will help, yet it would take an act of courage unheard of for any President to say this. This isn't something I really hold against Obama, who has done things to help in some key areas. I just feel it's too little too late, and it seems like more and more scientists are agreeing.

18. It's The Economy, Stupid.

Which is not to say that other things aren't important too - ending the occupations of Iraq and/or Afghanistan would help the economy massively, for example.

And one should consider cost as well as benefit - ending DADT, say, is nowhere near as important as fixing the economy, but it's also much easier, and so might be just as good a use of political capital.

20. Minor beef with phrasing
"Ending the recession and putting America back to work"

The recession has technically ended. We also had two "recessions" and "recoveries" in the 00s, in which decade NOT A SINGLE NEW JOB WAS CREATED So whether the economy is in recession or recovery is only marginally relevant to the underlying problem of insufficient work for a significant fraction of the population. I wish the administration would bother to recognize that this is actually a problem.

I'm going to go with 'other', and answer in a way that takes care of a whole host of choices.
My 'other' is - Start acting and inacting in accordance to how you campaigned and issues you claimed to support.

26. Other: Healthcare (universal single-payer)
I think that alone would do a lot for the economy, including helping businesses, creating jobs, stimulating consumer spending, etc.
