Chart from the administration press conference

It was hard to make out on TV.

I have no idea where the numbers come from.... I'm just putting this out there.

1. Bullshit. I say oil that is "dispersed," "dissolved," or "residual" is still there!
To me, the chart says that 75% of the oil is still in the GoM. Sure, it has gone through some changes, but so what?

The real chemistry may tell a different story, but this stupid chart is laughable.

2. 50% basically still there
They basically suggest that 50% of the oil is still there in some form. If you look at the three categories with the asterisk, they basically add up to 50%. Throw in the "dissolved" category and they have 75%. Not sure what they technically mean by dissolved since oil isn't a crystal or anything. It's really a collection of fluids. I don't find that chart all that encouraging. And 50% of all that oil is still alot of oil.

4. So much fun to be had with that chart. (Thinking some more.) For example,
if "nature" is twice as effective as chemical dispersants (16 vs. 8%) at sending oil to the phantom zone, and if chemical dispersants have such small effect anyway (8% BEFORE evaporation, natural dispersion, etc.), then why the heck did they pump a bunch of toxic chemicals into the GoM?

5. Bumping this chart because I think it's important. I'm told NPR also addressed
the "8% chemically dispersed" issue.
