No one died in "9/11 mosque" Building because the store was still closed.

On that still quiet Tuesday morning, the sales staff was in a basement room eating breakfast, waiting to open the doors to the first shoppers at 10 am.

There was no immediate sign of the fiery cataclysm that erupted overhead starting at 8:46. But out of a baby blue sky suddenly stained with smoke, a plane's landing gear assembly the size of a world war II torpedo crashed through the roof and down two empty selling floors of the Burlington Coat Factory.

The Sept. 11, 2001 attack killed 2,752 people downtown and doomed the five story building at 45 Park Place, two blocks north of the World Trade Center, keeping it abandoned for eight years.

2. What undisquised and crystal-clear hate and intolerance
thank god most New Yorkers don't agree with you, and it isn't all about YOU.

3. what do you think of the innocent Muslims who died on 9/11 ?
even though they had nothing to do with the attacks and were killed in them you think they have some responsiblity for the attacks just because they were Muslim ?

4. there is no such thing as an "innocent Muslim," apparently
They all must bear the collective guilt of an attack by less than 2 dozen Saudi Arabian terrorists. Their very presence on the holy ground of that attack is a stink in the nostrils of the Lord. And makes Bin Laden dance a little jig around his cave as he anxiously scans the news headlines for yet another story about one of his most cherished hopes and dreams finally, finally, coming to fruition. Oh, indeed the terrorists have won!

9. I remember it well, but such reminders are always useful
Even though it seems that the ignorance is intractable in some cases.

17. I really don't get it either
AMERICANS. We are talking about Americans who died, of all faiths. Americans who want to build a community center to reach out to people of all faiths. What is so threatening, so "in your face" about that?

5. Personally I think religious sensitivity should go both ways.
This looks kind of "in your face" to me. And I'm an agnostic so I have no dog in a religious war. All religions are equal to me.

8. As opposed to, what, a fucking McDonald's or something?
:eyes:

The WTC site is not a shrine. There is no "sacred zone" in downtown Manhattan.

11. And the mosque isn't even at Ground Zero!
Seriously, when did being within 2 blocks of Ground Zero constitute referring to it as the "Ground Zero Mosque?" You can tell that most of the people complaining about this have never even been to New York City. One block in Manhattan can practically put you in a different world. Guess how close together Chinatown and Little Italy are?

More to the point, just how many blocks away from Ground Zero would it be acceptable to build a mosque? This is religious persecution at its finest. Really sad to see that this is how far our country's come...

Because that NEVER, EVER happens.
