How do y'all feel about me buying pizza and beer with my unemployment money?
Of course, it's not like I haven't been doing that already for the past year

Let's see, large Vegetarian with a coupon for a free 2-topping medium and a piece of Tira Misu. With tip ($4.76) it came to an even $31.00. Plus, last week, I bought some Mythos, Rio Blanco Pale Ale and three kinds of Baltika (gift box of #5, 6, 7 and a glass). I think I'll get one of those for my father's 80th coming up next week...

41. I used to own a pizza shop.
Until most of my customers got off-shored, laid off, and gas hit $4.00 per hour. I sold out, and my partner lasted another 6 months.

But, in the end, after not taking a payday for himself for 6 months, he had to close the doors, and lay off the employees.

Support your local independent pizzaria!

Now, I'm hungry.

17. At this point, I'm on the federally-funded funds.
And I had to pay out $311.00 to my dentist yesterday to re-cement a crown that fell out last week. I may have to ask my landlord to give me another week before I can pay. Just being able to eat this pizza is more important than rent at the moment ;)

37. I think what loosened it the first time
is that I like to eat nuts, especially almonds. The problem is that I had a tooth removed right next to the crowned tooth, and there's a remaining molar on the other side. The almonds tend to get wedged in there, so I won't be eating them anymore, or not without hitting them with a mallet first!

84. One reason I don't chew on the other side
is that I have a bad tooth over there, and it's going to cost a helluva lot more than a measly 300 to fix.

I have soaked almonds overnight, but only to make almond milk, and then I toss the grounds (no flavor left in them.) As for the almonds I eat, they're usually roasted, and flavored, so soaking kind of defeats the flavoring part ;)

I'll just get out my big woodworker's hammer/mallet. I can smash a handful at a time with it

but their quality has gone downhill in the last few years. So these days I order from a larger chain, Sarpino's. I have no idea who owns them, only that their quality is much better than the other one :)

20. I don't know Sarpino's, but if someone is in New York
and likes pizza, they're pretty much in luck.

I think Right-Wing pizza should come in a red box and progressive pizza in a blue box.

That would take the hassle and stress out of the ordering process.

But questions?

1. Is that the response that you're looking for, and if so,

3. Do you consider it a good expenditure of your limited resources?

in "unapproved" ways (buying junkfood, beer and sodas) and wanted to test the waters. As for my overall funds, I do fairly well, so I can afford this. Plus, I have an interview tomorrow for the type of work I normally do at a wage that's more per hour than I spent on the pizza ;)

So, I'd say it did something for me :D

I may have the Real Ale, next. It's another Texas brand. Our beverage commission is pretty backward here. There are only six breweries in the whole state that are allowed to bottle their brews and distribute them. Real Ale is the newest, relatively, and quite good. I wanted to get a six-pack of their summer beer, Devil's Backbone, but the grocery was out.

74. Seriously?
You are unemployed and spending $30 on one meal? Thats kind of ridiculous. I'm unemployed, cant get unemployment benefits and have to survive off of like $10 a week for food. Maybe I am just jealous.

79. How is that one meal?
Assuming a medium is enough for 2, a medium + large could be 6 meals.

86. Well, if I was in your position financially, then no, I wouldn't spend $30 on a meal.
However, as I am still getting benefits and of a very high amount due to a high-paying designer position in my last employment, then I can afford a treat for myself every now and then.

I'm sorry to hear you're going through such a bad situation. What kind of work did you used to do?

81. You paid into unemployment when you were working, so it's your choice.
If that's what floats your boat, more power to ya'.

:P

I was glad to be working (and paid well) when I had to lay out 8 grand to save him. But he's worth it :)

85. It's your money; you paid premiums while you worked; you collect after losing a job.
So, I'm fine with you spending your benefits however you wish, and I wouldn't have even told you that, but you asked. :hi:

87. Here is a tip for a few months from now....

Assorted Jacks frozen pizzas 10 for 10 dollars.

4 pack of 16 oz. Jaguar Malt Liquor $2.45

You could spruce that up a bit with two 16 oz. bags of shredded Sargento cheese 2 for $5 (with card)

Fresh chopped yellow onion $1.29 for 5 lb bag. (with card)

Top it with garlic powder $1, Italian Seasonings $1 and spray olive oil $1 from the dollar store...
