1. I've wanted a good tablet computer for years....
Unfortunately, it's still a niche market and the good ones are way pricey. I'm hoping the iPad raises the convenience bar and lowers the price somewhat, while demand for full scale tablet features-- memory, storage, CPU speed, versatility-- drives up the computing bar for the iPad and it's progeny. Somewhere in the middle would be just fine-- something with the capabilities of a notebook computer in an iPad package. THAT'S what I'm cravin'.

2. I dunno. I bought an iPad.
A few years ago I had a Fujitsu convertible but found that I mostly only used it as a notebook computer. The handwriting & all that just didn't work out well for me.

You can not load apps of your own choosing or create much of anything on it. Its a consuming not a creating device.
