Quick! What movie does this BP guy remind you of???

ON THE GULF OF MEXICO -- BP's chief operating officer says he would eat fish from the Gulf of Mexico and would let his family eat it, too.

Doug Suttles took reporters on a boat tour of beaches and marshes Sunday about 25 miles south of Venice, La.

Some nearby areas reopened to fishing late last week, and some observers have questioned whether it's really safe.

Suttles says "they wouldn't open these waters ... if it wasn't safe to eat the fish." He also says he would eat it and "would serve it to my family."

There is a movie where an exec, made a similar claim about the safety of a foodstuff then was challenged to consume it.
Anyone remember?

1. Damn - I can picture the scene but can't remember the movie.
I wonder if the BP official's wife and kids appreciate being part of a publicity stunt.

15. Wasn't there a scene where the Mayor did refuse to go swimming
but volunteered his wife and kids to go in the water?

But that sounds about right! He was a real wienie... a loud-mouthed coward is how I remember him, so that fits.

10. We had Gulf shrimp for dinner the other day
Wild caught, from local fishermen. It was delicious. But it cost twice what is used to. And the sizes were really mixed up - some pretty small shrimp, usually in the 30-40 category and some really large, 10-20 or so. I've never before gotten Gulf shrimp with such a range of sizes.

7. Erin Brockvich

Ms. Sanchez: Let's be honest here. $20 million dollars is more money than these people have ever dreamed of.
Erin Brockovich: Oh see, now that pisses me off. First of all, since the demur we have more than 400 plaintiffs and... let's be honest, we all know there are more out there. They may not be the most sophisticated people but they do know how to divide and $20 million isn't *shit* when you split it between them. Second of all, these people don't dream about being rich. They dream about being able to watch their kids swim in a pool without worrying that they'll have to have a hysterectomy at the age of *twenty*. Like Rosa Diaz, a client of ours. Or have their spine deteriorate, like Stan Blume, *another* client of ours. So before you come back here with another lame ass offer, I want you to think real hard about what your spine is worth, Mr. Walker. Or what you might expect someone to pay you for your uterus, Ms. Sanchez. Then you take out your calculator and you multiply that number by a hundred. Anything less than that is a waste of our time.

Erin Brockovich: By the way, we had that water brought in specially for you folks. Came from a well in Hinkley.
Ms. Sanchez: I think this meeting is over.
Ed Masry: Damn right it is.

Probably plenty of others, too.

I am sure there are variations in other movies, but that is the scene I was thinking of.
Stuck with me all these years.
I wonder if anyone offered Suttles a fish dinner?

9. Don't know about the new bozo but Tony Hayward
reminded me of Bill Murray in "Scrooged". He even had the same expression on his face.

13. "A Civil Action" with John Travolta?
There was a scene where they were taking statements from workers and executives from a company accused of making the water unsafe. And one of the executives said there was nothing wrong with the water, so Travolta's character poured him some and told him to drink it, and he wouldn't.

That was the first movie that came to mind for me.
