I was watching the film "The International" last night.......
.... and there was a scene in which the Italian man who owned the weapons company was talking to the NY DA (Naomi Watts) and the Interpol investigator (Clive Owen) about why the bank they were investigating would want to finance the sale of arms to rogue nations, why they would want to control a conflict. His retort:

"Their objective isn't to control the conflict, it's to control the debt that the conflict produces. You see, the real value of a conflict, the true value, is in the debt that it creates. You control the debt, you control everything. You find this upsetting, yes? But this is the very essence of the banking industry, to make us all, whether we be nations or individuals, slaves to debt."

So true.

4. So many of us don't fully understand the big manipulation picture (myself included)
It's just a game of power and money to these people, right? Just a game?

I'm definitely going to watch this movie. Thanks for mentioning it, and for the quote.

6. Generally Not My Usual Movie Flavor, But I Really Love Clive Owen's Acting
and decided to watch it. Glad that I have a DISH and was able to watch it again! It really held my interest to my surprise. The "shoot 'em up guns" stuff is what generally turns me off, but the overall theme really hit home!
