3. Of course, it'd be easier for Dean to win in NH .. being he's from Vermont
I don't see Rahm as Presidential material.

5. Rahm would give the saltiest speeches in presidential history
Edited on Sun Aug-01-10 02:36 PM by Chan790
"Fucking" this and "cocksucker" that and threats to "murder them all" if those "fucking retards" don't stop opposing his agenda.

He was born too late in Chicago by about 80 years...he'd have been a natural for a prohibition-era mobster.

6. Let's see now.
In 2002 who might you have proposed as a hypothetical 2008 primary ballot?

I bet you'd have put down Al Gore and maybe, just maybe John Kerry. Or maybe even Hillary. The man who is currently sitting in the White House was a very obscure Illinois State Senator.

I'm willing to go out on a limb here and say that whoever winds up being the nominees six years from now are people none of us are thinking about now, and possibly even people none of us have ever heard of.

7. That's always possible
But it's kinda hard to put blank spaces in a poll :)

14. My point is that
a poll in 2010 about the 2016 primary is pointless.

16. Maybe we should go with the "known quantity" in 2016.
Considering the guys we elected in 1992 and 2008 - the ones who were "unknowns" until the DNC convention which preceded their own campaigns - both failed to live up to their campaigns, maybe next time we need someone with an actual track record we can look at.

9. I don't consider any of those listed presidential material. It
makes me glad I live in a caucus state with the ability to be an undeclared delegate.

10. Weiner, Grayson, Inslee
of course Kucinich in a sane media world. But he's not allowed to play in reindeer games is he?

11. This poll isn't really about reindeer games.
I'd certainly consider voting for Dennis if he were on the ballot, in fact I was planning on supporting him in the 2008 caucus, but he had already dropped out by then. Between him and Dean though, I would probably have to go with the good Doctor.

12. None of the above: Bernie Sanders or Al Franken
Fucking Rahm Emanuel is too fucking closely tied to the Obama and Clinton administrations for comfort--whether he's any good is beside the point because you know Repukes can tear down anyone--look what they did to Max Cleland!--and all the pukes have to do with Dean is show that "scream" video over and over and over to paint him as some kind of maniac.

Sanders is an Independent so we can't get him, but Franken's been doing a really good job and I think he could win the big one. And after eight years he would probably go right back to the Senate and keep on keepin' on.

13. There will not be another Senator elected President for a very long time.
Edited on Sun Aug-01-10 06:27 PM by Sebastian Doyle
And I'm not basing that only on the historical precedent either. So while this is a little off the topic, I would encourage Al Franken, Anthony Weiner, Alan Grayson, or any other decent Democrat currently in either house of Congress, who may want to move into the White House one day, to get elected governor in their home state. (or lobby for the VP job, if Joe Biden ends up not being there in 2012 for whatever reason.)

And since I saw Jay Inslee referenced in a previous post, I'd encourage him especially to run for governor in 2012. Gregoire isn't going to run for a third term, and it would be a great time for him to do so.

18. Yeah, but you'll notice two trolls (so far) have taken the bait.
anchovies are sometimes used for bait....other times for pizza toppings. And someone who votes for Michelle Bachmann on a DU poll, well.... let's just say they made their choice for dinner.

20. If Bachman is running as a Democrat...
Edited on Sun Aug-01-10 09:07 PM by SidDithers
it would be perfectly allowable to support her on DU. You are talking about the Democratic primary, aren't you?

The more interesting question is why you equate Michelle Bachmann with the Democrats.

Sid

21. Sad thing is...
If she DID pretend to be a "Democrat" (but changed absolutely nothing about her politics) some here would actually defend her. :evilfrown:

and if not, there won't be a USA as it is today. We are following the Soviet Union into the ash heap of history.
