Apparently he's some kind of junior Bernie Madoff -- sentenced to five years for bilking his clients. Just recently released on parole. Marc's mother is a former congresswoman. They had two separate tables at the rehearsal dinner.

1. I thought they were both former congresscritters
which might explain the just getting out of jail.

9. Yes -- Marc's dad Ed
represented Iowa's first district (northeastern part of the state, including Dubuque & Davenport) in the late 60s/early 70s. IIRC, he was succeeded by Jim Leach in '70 or '72 -- I barely remember Leach making a campaign stop at my grade school in Pleasant Valley.

15. Exactly.
We should revel in the luxury they enjoy. If only in our minds.

As my departed fa used to say, "They're rich, so they must be smart."

Poor, dear fa.

5. It is difficult for children with parents like that.
They will be tarred, usually unfairly, with the same brush.

Thankfully, Hillary is the mother-in-law - her capacity to forgive is remarkable.

7. Shhhh, they are all beautiful people. The rich will give us all jobs, the beautiful will lead us.
http://www.finalternatives.com/node/13364

The New York Times’ “Weddings and Celebrations” pages are filled every week with stories about the weddings of beautiful young hedge funder to one another. But one hedge fund trader’s wedding to a former hedge fund employee has already stolen an unusual number of column inches in the Grey Lady and breathless coverage around the world.

Despite the best efforts of the planners, the details of former first daughter Chelsea Clinton’s marriage to 3G Capital Management trader Marc Mezvinsky are everywhere. The two will tie the knot at the Astor Courts estate in Rhinebeck, N.Y., 90 miles north of New York City, on tomorrow in a confab said to cost between $3 million and $5 million.

Clinton, the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, is no stranger to the hedge fund world herself: The 30-year-old worked at Avenue Capital Group, headed by Marc Lasry, a generous donor to the campaigns of both of her parents, before leaving to study public health at Columbia University. Nor is her 32-year-old intended a stranger to politics. Both of Mezvinsky’s parents served in Congress, although his father spent time in prison for fraud.

The NupCouple's table was in the center of the stone barn there, flanked by those of their parents. One was anchored by the mother of the groom, Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky, another by Bill and Hill. The groom's father, Ed Mezvinsky was seated elsewhere in the barn, with his four daughters from a previous marriage. His most recent claim to fame, alas, is that he spent five years in federal prison for bilking hundreds of unsuspecting investors, including family members, out of $10 million in an elaborate fraud scheme. He was released in November 2008 but remains on parole. There is, not surprisingly, lingering bad blood in the family.

One partisan of the groom's mother described him as a "mini-Bernie Madoff," but don't ask who told me this; my lips are also sealed.

13. Ed Mezvinsky was the originator of the Nigerian money scams
And he solicited some ill-gotten gains by claiming his access to the Clintons.

Wot a guy.

Did Chelsey's dadums pardon him or something? It's all too intertwined, I wouldn't doubt the absurd.

"Some of the African schemes were not far removed from the classic, laughable Nigerian scams often run through the Internet - seeking victims with financial backing to extract millions out of bogus accounts. Others were sophisticated oil prospects."
