I saw a screening of The Tillman Story
If you have a chance to see this documentary please do so.

Some things I did not know.

1. after the initial friendly fire incident, at a range of (if I recall correctly) around 300 yards, where mistaken id was at least possible, one of the HVs manuevered to a better firing position at 40 yards, where mistaken id was scarcely possible and then proceeded to kill.

2. there was no evidence of any enemy fire at all, although the leader of the HV that killed Tillman continues to claim that his unit was under fire, including mortars.

3. a memo indicating that great care should be taken discussing the Tillman affair, because the original story was bullshit, was circulated up the chain of command soon after the initial silver-star awarded and total bullshit story was presented. The Bush speech soon after that was devoid of all references to the bullshit story although his speech writers had asked for the details.

4. the whole Tillman family are great outspoke atheists who refuse to put up with bullshit from anyone.

And finally Pat was a wonderful person and his loss was just stupid.

3. Jon Krakauer's book, Where Men Win Glory: The Odyssey of Pat Tillman might be a good...
companion read for the film. Krakauer did his homework, as evidenced by the negative reviews from the right, by sorting through the confusing, and often conflicting facts, to write a very readable narrative.

Pat was more than just a wonderful person, he was a principled soul with ethics and values that simple riled the Neo-cons.

4. Out of respect everyone should see the Tillman family's version

Most people just know the BushCo fiction -- Pat Tillman deserves the truth to be known. Can't wait to see this!

6. I saw it at the L.A. Film Festival last month.
It was a great movie, but it got me pissed!!!

One thing I noticed at the screening was the diversity of the crowd. Great experience.

7. The Tillmans are a very special family
and I hope someday they get some kind of redress since they can't get their son back.
