I figured out the apeal of the teabag movement, the religious right, and conspiracy wackadoodlism.
They all have some common denominators. The adherents all tend to be "low information voters" with spotty education, and somewhat dim economi prospects. The adherents are also people with deep-seated inferiority complexes that manifest in them wanting to be the smartest people in the room, even if they have to bellow complete bullshit to leave that impression.

So, to assuage their deep-seated feelings of inferiority, the teabagger/reliogo-nut/conspiracy wackadoodle lacthes onto one of the aforementiond groups because they are sources of "secret knowledge" and therefore put the person on a higher level than the educated individuals that they fear and loathe.

This make any sense?

2. Yep. You're describing paranoia manipulated.
At a lower level of critical thinking, it's just the message, "Government doesn't care about you" which isn't unreasonable in itself. But if you mix it with ignorance you get stuff like "Government out of my Medicare!".

And at the lowest level, it's the message that you are a victim. It appeals to the 2 year old in most of us. :)

3. Yes. It's also divide-and-conquer.
Keep the poor whites angry and upset at "muslins" and "illegal aliens who are stealing our jobs" and they won't focus on the people who ARE oppressing them.

4. And the amount of wackadoodlism is in direct proportion to the coverage wackadoodles receive.
The greater the wackadoodlic BCB,* the more we see, hear, and read about it.

5. "Secret" knowledge that they are spoon-fed by an international news corporation
and corporate sponsored politicians (and ex-politicians).

At least during the Bush era left wing conspiracy theorists had to really dig around for "secret" knowledge. These days Glenn Beck just copies our old theories, puts a right wing spin on them and broadcasts them to a (relatively) mass audience.

16. Yeah, that's believable
Of course they're more educated. Isn't it obvious from all the misspelled signs, the complete lack of knowledge about anything having to do with socialism/Nazism/communism (since they're apparently all the same to them), the total misunderstanding of the American political system, and the fact that they completely missed how almost all of them got a tax cut under Obama yet still blame Obama for raising their taxes. Boy, if that doesn't scream more educated than average, I don't know what does!

18. Haven't read thread yet but I may be guilty of conspiracy wackadoodledom lol
I am not insane and well educated/experienced/old and realize that Billions of $ gone on budget and off budget to covert ops in government/MIC.

I self identify as liberal and as a scientist realize that it is unlikely humans are able to define ultimate reality but spirituality can be a comfort and expand one's sense of existence.

19. I think there is some good thinking here
"The adherents are also people with deep-seated inferiority complexes that manifest in them wanting to be the smartest people in the room, even if they have to bellow complete bullshit to leave that impression. So, to assuage their deep-seated feelings of inferiority, the teabagger/reliogo-nut/conspiracy wackadoodle lacthes onto one of the aforementiond groups because they are sources of "secret knowledge" and therefore put the person on a higher level than the educated individuals that they fear and loathe."

I think this profile matches a lot of people I've encountered, but this isn't unique to realm to the right or politics.

This personality type I believe would lend itself to political extremism of some sort as such an individual would have the need to be contrarian to common thinking in order to demonstrate their "intellectual prowess". The more they can tell people everything they know is wrong, the smarter I imagine they will perceive themselves. Anything that promises contrarian secret knowledge will be incredibly tempting to this type of person. Then, as you mentioned, this allows them to counter educated individuals because they can write off complex and well researched arguments with ease rather than honestly critiquing them. If the educated individual does not possess and believe the "secret knowledge" then the educated individual is but a simple fool/sheeple.

Essentially what's at stake for this person when it comes to any intellectual discussion is their ego. They're not interesting in knowledge and education because they seek truth, but because they seek to fulfill their ego. I'd imagine this personality type is more prevalent on the right as its all "ME ME ME!!!!".
