Tier 5 Unemployment: Will Schumers Bill Have To Be Paid For?
Edited on Thu Jul-29-10 11:20 AM by Joanne98
By Victor Hatley on July 29, 2010, 6:45 am Posted in Finance News

Senator Schumer announced in an interview that his office was working on new legislation to create a fifth tier to be added to the unemployment benefits for those whose benefits have run out, the 99er’s as they are called. In the interview he said “There are a number of people who have maxed out, they’ve been looking and looking for work but haven’t found it, and there is a separate act that would extend those benefits to them.”

In the past Senator Schumer has been supportive of the unemployment benefits extension and has said that “Once I ensure that every New Yorker receives the full 99 weeks to which they are entitled, I will work with my colleagues to create a fifth tier of benefits. More than 25,000 New Yorkers have exhausted the full 99 weeks of benefits and I am committed to providing them further relief.” Now he is proving his claim. In a phone call to his office it was confirmed that the Senator is working on something about a fifth tier, but no hints were given concerning when, or exactly what will be included in the bill

Considering the sudden allergies to deficit spending that have been developing in our Congressional halls, this bill will quite probably have to be paid for. In the past this kind of measure has been passed as emergency spending and didn’t have to be paid for, but the filibuster that Republicans imposed with H.B. 4213 shows that this may not be possible at this time. It was suggested with the last bill that unused funds from the stimulus could be used, but this has met with Democratic resistance. One last consideration is what will be included in the bill, and for how long. Many are hoping that the COBRA benefit will be reinstated also, and this could be included, but as yet details are vague. We will keep you posted as developments arise.

60 billion to fund the war that is for oil and natural minerals…trillions of dollars of minerals! No problem with that bill passing…no questions about it adding to the deficit…no 2 month delay with fillabusters!!
Are you surprised?! I hope not…only question is how many of those greedy bastards have a hand in mining operations there!
Now it’s vacation time again while 6+ million 99er’s and their families are thrown to the wolves!

Tier 5 is needed now!!

I am getting so discouraged. Our country has forgotten us. They even tax our unemployment and where do the dollars go? To foreign aid or war while our children starve. Now I am hearing of suicides among us 99ers. I have lost everything. This country is not the country I was raised to respect and love. It has been taken over by greed and heartlessness.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and had graduated with honors, 15 years of work was easily found. Now laid off since 2007, 56 years old and I can’t even get a tutoring position. It has been very depressing. I have to agree, we find trillions for other endeavors but when it comes to our own….guess I should have gone into politics….

Even when I was downsized I cut back so I could help people that were on the street and flat out hungry, now I am that person I have always been self sufficent This is just unreal what they put in the public eye is such bs spin!! People in Ohio and Kentucky are flat out starving and living out side Are they going to show that on the view”. All I now is we have to help each other, When I had to move I gave away
my belongings to the salvation army. I applaud the senators for trying to help us, it is the right thing to do, Please dont buy into Obamas
divided party crap! He can override that.

Please someone out there in our government, please help us all not just who u seem fit!!!!

Congress needs an enema! Let’s start with all the republicans, take away their jobs, money and networks, then put them on unemployment so they can see just how much fun it is.

I have been w/o any income for 2 months now, and I am a single mother w/2 little girls and it disgusted me that Congress had no trouble giving $15 million dollars to Auschwitz, but refuses and ignores its own Citizens! I would like one of these members of Congress to please tell me how am I supposed to go on a job interview w/no money for gas, soap to wash myself so I can be presentable, and pay for childcare. I have been putting apps in EVERYWHERE, AND NOTHING, and no one seems to care about the Children of the Unemployed. Here in Ohio, we have more Unemployed persons than there are jobs available. I have networked through many people I know, both personally and professionally, and have gotten nowhere, except a part timejob w/my family attorney who ended up closing his practice b/c no one can afford fees, attorney or court. We DESPERATELY NEED A TIER 5!!!! THE CHILDREN OF TH UNEMPLOYED, TIER 5 NEED THIS EXTENSION FOR EMERGENCY RELIEF….THERE’S A REVOLUTION IN THE AIR…..

1. the power of words..."paid for"
very dollar that is allotted to the extension will return at a minimum 5 dollars back into the economy. on the other hand every dollar allotted to the war machine is an unknown negative return on investment. the war machine will never be "paid for"

peace or war...like all empires before us we have chosen war.
