Tim Lahaye, Evangelical Christian Minister, Warns Obama Bringing Us Closer To 'The Apocalypse'
Pure insanity.

snip-

The evangelical voice said of the political platform maintained by the Obama administration, "It's going to work against our country and bringing us closer to the apocalypse."

Huckabee went on to prod LaHaye a bit further on his assertion. "Are we now living in the end times, from your perspective?" asked the former Arkansas Governor and possible 2012 White House contender.

LaHaye's response: "Very definitely, governor."

3. The End Times are always near
I remember as a child in the 60s and 70s being told the End Times were Very Near and that I would not be seeing Middle Age, which I now am, and, as usual, the End Times are Still Near.

The description of the End Times in the Bible is cleverly written. It basically describes the World as It Usually Is.

Yes. Yes he is.

He also colors his hair. Badly, I might add. But consider this. If he thinks the end is nigh, why bother with the Clairol ..... yanno?

Edited on Thu Jul-29-10 10:01 AM by sharp_stick
this weasel and his buddies normally start to jack up the idiocy a few months before another moronic tome hits the stores.

Not only that but shouldn't evangelical assholes like this welcome the apocalypse? Why the fuck are they always trying to slow down and subvert the return of Jeebus?

23. Yes, he was on Huckabee's show...
...promoting his new book.

I've always wondered if these people know they are scammers, of if they actually believe the shit they say?

Also, from their perspective, if Obama is leading us to the End Times, isn't that supposed to be a GOOD thing? I suppose it depends on who is in office, the angle you use to fleece your sheep...

Apocalypse - "lifting of the veil," "revelation"

Some fun from wiki: link

An Apocalypse (Greek: Ἀποκάλυψις Apokálypsis; "lifting of the veil" or "revelation") is a disclosure of something hidden from the majority of mankind in an era dominated by falsehood and misconception, i.e. the veil to be lifted.

I wonder what the something hidden could be? It could be good. It could be bad. It could be neutral and/or all of the above. It could depend on where you "stand" in the grand scheme of things. It sure would be...interesting.

14. it gets the car wreck readers in. You know who they are right?
those are the people who drive slowly past a car wreck just to have a peek and think, "whew! I'm glad that wasn't me".

Only with these "profit" types, it's like driving slow past a clown car wreck. "whew, I'm glad that wasn't me, but hey, it's still kinda funny!"

12. Well then.......
shouldn't LaHaye be thanking Obama for helping to bring about the fulfillment of prophecy.

I mean, it's gonna have to happen sometime, aren't those Rapture Ready people wanting it to happen in their lifetime so they can experience it all? I guess I'm not understanding why LaHaye is suddenly shying away from the possibility. I just wish he'd set a date already.

over their valuables to us heathens who won't be raptured. I'm partial to art pottery, but will happily take fine art, anything Tiffany and jewelry set with obscenely large precious stones. Feel free to PM for the address to send them.

Unless, you know, they know they're full of shit and just use religion as a political club to bash people with.

39. And this would be...good, right?
Timothy LaHaye is probably America's leading end-timer. From his perspective we're ALWAYS living in the end times.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why he's having a problem with that, though. According to Rapture Theology, one fine day Jesus is going to pull out the Holy Shop Vac of Antioch and suck up all the fundies with it. At that point the Devil and his minions are going to come in, look around, realize his power is only valid with people who believe in demons (and they're all up in Heaven giving Jesus shit because things aren't exactly as they expected), and go back where he came from.

40. I don't understand why its a warning
shouldn't fundies be celebrating these things? If the apocalypse is going to be when they all go to heaven, shouldn't they seek to make it happen sooner? And if that's the case, shouldn't they be supporting the liberal politics they say is going to bring it about?
