Can TLC not find anything better to show than a Toddlers and Tiaras marathon?
It's been on all afternoon! Some of these mothers are disgusting. I am watching an episode right now, a poor little boy who wears lip gloss and had his nails painted green is in pageants. He said "I don't like to lose pageants because it makes my mommy sad" His mother is yelling at her poor little kid onstage. Another mother said that if her little girl wins any money she would buy a dress for her instead of saving it for college....my god, what is wrong with these people?!

4. That is one of the sickest shows on the air
I'd rather watch a Catch a Predator marathon than 5 minutes of Toddlers and Tiaras.

The parents on that show need to be reported for child abuse.

5. Anyone exploitable -- TLC is right there . . . !!! Look what they did to Jon&Kate!!
Among many others . . .

I watched a good bit of it -- and The Little People --

it's about selling products --

I used to say re "Jon&Kate" it's a good thing they didn't have a funeral

service as a sponsor!!

6. The Loser Channel?
Really, there's very little on that channel worth tuning into. In fact I usually just flip past it when I'm surfing for something decent to watch, usually with a little irritation as I see the bottom of the barrel reality crap they show.

Some cable channels are putting out decent stuff. That's just not one of them. They seem to be looking for the cheapest programming there is.

8. I used to watch it back then
They had that show "Connections" the host of which escapes me, but it was quite informative and entertaining. I moved to Discovery and History, but now the reality show has crept into their lineups. I now watch National Geographic and Discovery Science.

32. It still is
The most important thing you can learn from TLC is, no matter how hideous a television concept is, SOMEONE will watch it.

11. I'm sorry. 200 channels, and you're watching that one?
Why?

There are tons of things on television that I don't watch. In fact, if it's not news, I'm probably not watching it.

Change. The. Channel.

13. The parents are mentally ill.
Have you noticed that most of the mother's are not too attractive? Maybe they are trying to live vicariously through their poor abused children.

14. maybe there would not be a need if our society was not one that judged the mothers not attractive..

beyond that, ...crappy parenting.

19. seabeyond made a very good point - there was nothing "touchy" about it.
We live in a society in which a woman's worth is based primarily on her "beauty" (a standard which is constantly subject to change without notice) and her sexual availability.

A mother projecting this onto her child is just a further abuse by society, not just by one "crazy" mother.

and not that I agree, but that is the way it is, and I don't see it changing anytime soon. In the meantime, perhaps getting these mothers to see the damage they are doing to the kids and themselves would be a good starting place.

27. the thing is, these women are self absorbed. if their children are worried about them
if their children are parenting their emotional state, it already, pretty much tells you, the parent fails. any child that says i dont want mom to be sad cause i lose.... already has a mom not doing her job.

tis about her

not the child

The mothers (and fathers) that force (yes, force) their kids into this care not for the kids.

If you don't like the show, don't watch it. Don't increase ad revenue, vote with your remote. It's that simple.

23. Pretty sad, isn't it? We first subscribed to cable all those years ago BECAUSE of The Learning Chann
and way back then it was fantastic.. My boys grew up watching "Connections" & the other great stuff they offered.

The History Channel, A & E, The Learning Channel, Discovery, National Geographic & Animal Planet were the crown jewels of cable...and now they are nothing more than a dumping ground for nonsense..

brainless parents thinking, "Ooh, if I put make-up and sequins on my little girl, maybe I'll get to be on TLC."
