The giant balloon dam pooling the Salt River into Tempe Town Lake burst last night, sending 750 million gallons of water downstream. Last night we brought you photos of the immediate aftermath.

Today, we received three photos taken from the seventh floor of the Hayden Ferry building that help put things in scale.

4. Why the GOBP fuckers don't want to put people to work fixing it is beyond me.
Until one of their relatives dies in a overpass or bridge collaps...or a dam break, or a sink hole you won't hear shit from them.

9. They made a pledge
that they want Obama to fail. The don't give a flying fuck who suffers as long as they achieve power.

5. It's a balloon dam.
It didn't so much crumble as deflate.

Perhaps a very large tire-repair kit would be good to have on hand.

Personally, I liked the Salt River the way it was. It always looked fake to me, filled with water like that.

7. Indeed. It was kind of a marvel before--dry as a bone, then the monsoons
would come and turn the river area green, then disappear to dry again, then big, big rains--beautiful. Now it's spoiled--million dollar condos on the banks; really a sad site.

11. Agree with you 100%.
It was fun to go to the river to see the water flowing back in the '70 and 80's.

The balloon dam was designed to be deflated should the river bed be needed to overflow.

8. It's awful, isn't it? I hate it now. Hell, I even liked the junkyards on the banks
better than those damn mid0rises. Ugh.

10. Ridiculous, but it did bring pleasure to row boaters.
