I don’t mean to suggest that liberals underestimate Palin’s electoral fortunes; they are, truly, quite grim. The true danger is not that Palin would ever seize the White House, but rather what her nomination would mean for political discourse and basic stability in this country.

....

But if you think it’s bad now, wait until you see what happens if the plurality of NN attendees see their wish granted. Palin has already demonstrated a disturbing willingness to frame even minor political squabbles in terms of \"tyranny\" versus \"liberty,\" and to make her a major party’s presidential candidate would only do more to throw the spotlight on that sort of incitement. Perhaps, as Kevin Drum prays, the GOP would then, \"go down to such an epic defeat that they finally get some sense knocked into them.\" But in the meantime, we would be facing a long, protracted campaign in which both a major political party and the mainstream press would treat violently anti-democratic positions as existing within the confines of reasonable political discourse. We’ve already had quite a bit of that over the past few years; accommodating and encouraging it could potentially make things much, much worse.

8. Be careful what you wish for...Yes she is stupid, yes she appeals to the basest of voters..
..but with the corporate-owned media in this country doing the bidding of their fellow corporate-persons, if she got on the ticket she might win it..

I would MUCH rather have her shredded by fellow republicans in the nomination process then have to face her in the GE...

2. Palin isn't the issue
She is a freak show on the side. She'll never get solid support from the majority of the right wing power machine if for no other reason than they don't think they could begin to either control her, or trust her. We've seen a progression of Palins over the decades and they never go anywhere in the long run. That birther/bagger/bircher crowd always self destructs. The danger from the left is far more about the Romneys or some GOP govenor that hasn't hit the national stage yet.

5. I would love to share the humor, but I don't...I thought it was a hoot when Reagan
ran for California Governor...and of course he would NEVER get elected President - who would vote for such an obvious tool of the rich? Evidently quite a few...

Palin has support of a lot of RW religious groups whose plans for America should make you very fearful. She may be an idiot, but her potential to damage our nation is no joke, and she is on a nationwide campaign to support RW candidates in state and local elections. She just contributed $3500 to several candidates here in PA, according to an email I got this morning.

Remember, in our country, as many as 40% of ADULTS believe in a "Young Earth"-that is, that earth was created 6 to 10 thousand years ago, despite any science that proves otherwise. They believe in witches, demons and assorted devils as facts of daily life. They HATE us.
They support Palin and would be glad to vote her empress for life if they could.

Palin herself is a joke - her potential for destruction is not.

18. We're fine.
Enjoying a few warmer days right now since temps dropped over the weekend from over 90 to 40 ... But there's rain in the forecast.

Flag stone patio? Nice! It's what we have, although it's rather old, stones have become uneven and weeds like the cracks. :(

17. Why is it that teabaggers are unable to spell? Distracted by nuts in their mouths?
And yet they want to make English the official, ney the offical, language?

I would like to know your opinion.

Are they just fucking stupid?

9. It's not really up to us, is it?
I'm not sure why we get admonished for everything these days - Obama is a corporatist hack and that's supposed to be our fault, because we either didn't get in line and join in the cheering section, or else because we didn't get out of line and push him hard enough, or some other psychotically "centrist" rationale. And as if that wasn't bad enough, now I'm supposed to feel guilty that the Republicans might nominate another corn pone fascist - but this one makes G.W. Bush look like a model of mental health and equanimity? Sorry, but I can't and won't punish myself for that. If the Pukes do this it will not have been because of my side's "extremism", or anything we said or have wished for. The Republicans do what they do (dutifully following the voices in their heads), and the blame is all on them. The Democrats have enough shit of their own to be blamed for --more than plenty-- without shouldering the guilt of the other party as well.

10. Absolutely
Remember, we elected Bush TWICE. The best way to make sure that Palin doesn't become president is for her not to run.

20. "Fantastic" as in in fantasy?
There are obviously people who think she is a valid candidate, and some who think she is divinely sent to lead god's America out of the hands of...well, of US!

She would create chaos just by announcing her intent to run, which I think she may do for 2012.
