Remarkable WWF poster campaign against “Global Warming”
World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is an international non-governmental organization working on issues regarding the conservation, research and restoration of the environment, formerly named the World Wildlife Fund.

WWF launch the creative poster campaign against the Global Warming and Climate change to realize the disaster of global warming if we still play with Nature.

These are a few of them...

15 Km of rain forest disappears every minute

Fashion claims more victims than you think

To see all of them... http://ansblog.com/2010/02/remarkable-wwf-poster-campaign-against-global-warming/

1. They all preach to the choir
And get a big guffaw and rolled-eyes from the people they need to reach.

The only one that is remotely effective is the fashion one because it doesn't offend anybody personally, is subtle yet to the point.

5. I'm not even sure what that is
It looks like oil in a river, but I'm not sure what the big container is.

Still, the reaction is, yeah yeah, oil pollutes, bla bla, thank you and go away now because that city is full of liberals who would be the first to cry if their power went out or they couldn't drive their fancy car to the Hamptons for the weekend.

See how that works?

you're absolutely right. we should never issue these sorts of messages. they only work against us.
and the best way to save social security is to end it. and closing schools is saving them. war is peace.

12. You keep me informed. YOU personally
You let me know when WWF issues a statement saying their multi-million dollar campaign has turned the tide and now the red state voters and senators see the light and are on board for climate change legislation.

Because unless it does that, it's a fucking waste of time.

16. here. for your information, public interest advertising is almost always pro bono (that mean free)

donated creative and donated space/time. if that offends you, then you're in a small, sad minority.

3. That's exactly right
so the burning question seems to be -- how do we break through? What would it take? Can it be done?

6. It has to counter the lies they believe
And it's best if it uses humor. You have to get them to laugh at the people telling the lies. If people recall, that's what Obama did quite effectively in 2008. That's why so much of hate radio works, it's funny. Sure it's the kind of bullying humor that I taught my kids not to use, but to their target audience, it's funny. We are never going to change that percentage we need to get to until we start reaching out to them in language they can hear.

4. I think art reaches people
It makes them imagine things differently in their spongy little monkey brains. Telling someone something they don't want to hear might not affect them the same way as seeing these posters could.
Environment comes last in just about everyone's concerns, so anything to get people to think about nature is good I think! Art can work, also pictures of what's being wiped out.

7. art is probably the last form of Freedom of Speech
Glad to know there are some good artists out there. They can convey information with this format. Music is/can be the same way.

God forbid that someone might actually say something about these atrocities.

14. I liek these BUT....
I can see why they wont' work on many people and how the anti-environment groups will be able to easily counter them.

All of these posters concentrate on long term problems and ask the viewer to think long term. By itself not a bad thing. We need ot think long term

But meanwhile those who want to log and develop and keep making money off of destroying the environment will use short term needs.

In other words, yes we should protect the environment but we still need jobs.

Like it or not that's just how we as a species thinks. We can all too easily justify long term harm for short term gains. And it doesn't help that we do need jobs. A lot of people are told stuff about saving the environment or stopping climate change and they hear is "You have to give up your house and go bankrupt"

We need posters that address this.
