A client's son wants out after he completes the last year of a 3 year hitch. He's traumatized by seeing one too many friends KIA.

Last year the powers-that-be prepared for a secret invasion of Pakistan by giving medicals to troops in my small town. The powers-that-be brought enormous pressure to bear on certifying soldiers with probable hearing damage (a very common injury) from prior tours of duty. One kid went AWOL, the powers-that-be found him hiding in a motel room, and a judge sentenced him to complete his tour of duty.

Two Canadian soldiers were killed in Afghanistan when their armoured vehicle hit an improvised explosive device, the military said Saturday.

Master Cpl. Kristal Giesebrecht and Pte. Andrew Miller were killed when their armoured vehicle hit an improvised explosive device. (Department of Defence)

Master Cpl. Kristal Giesebrecht and Pte. Andrew Miller, both medics from CFB Petawawa, had been responding to a report of a mine found in the doorway of a home when their vehicle detonated the IED, the military said. The blast occurred about 20 kilometres southwest of the city of Kandahar.
