1. I'm sure their loved ones don't refere to them as "dead guys"
Maybe to you they're "guys" but to their loved ones they're soldiers who are their sons, daughters, husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends..
You get the picture?

15. They're dead guys.
Respecting the military starts by not putting them into a pissing contest you can't win. That's right the dead guys are fighting because stupid people think they got to have a cock dangling contest.

19. You know nothing about it.
Your contention that any grunt who failed to desert or go AWOL was in full support of their mission is ignorant in the extreme.
We fought for each other. Period. Full stop.

10. What gets me are people with kids who go off to war
I really feel sorry for children who have a parent at war.

They have to live with terrible stress. It's not a good situation for them.

20. A member of my extended family just shipped out a few weeks ago.
A client's son wants out after he completes the last year of a 3 year hitch. He's traumatized by seeing one too many friends KIA.

Last year the powers-that-be prepared for a secret invasion of Pakistan by giving medicals to troops in my small town. The powers-that-be brought enormous pressure to bear on certifying soldiers with probable hearing damage (a very common injury) from prior tours of duty. One kid went AWOL, the powers-that-be found him hiding in a motel room, and a judge sentenced him to complete his tour of duty.

...and they have buddies....and an adventure.....what more could you want? So if they survive it...they get to brag about it...or more likely try to forget about it.

We know who they are working for...I'm pretty sure it's not us.

Two Canadian soldiers were killed in Afghanistan when their armoured vehicle hit an improvised explosive device, the military said Saturday.

Master Cpl. Kristal Giesebrecht and Pte. Andrew Miller were killed when their armoured vehicle hit an improvised explosive device. (Department of Defence)

Master Cpl. Kristal Giesebrecht and Pte. Andrew Miller, both medics from CFB Petawawa, had been responding to a report of a mine found in the doorway of a home when their vehicle detonated the IED, the military said. The blast occurred about 20 kilometres southwest of the city of Kandahar.

34. To make UHmerica more secure. And . . . and . . . and . . . FREEDUMZ. And . . . keeping us safe.
Or . . . something.

After seeing the procession of a dead soldier at our airport, and seeing as how the wars, indeed, are obviously meant to be continued and not finished . . .

What can you do?

We protest. They don't listen.

We vote. No one listens.

This is butchery. What we're doing to these countries is butchery. What the military is doing to our nation, our children and our world is despicable.

I just thought that the people we elected would somehow be above it all, but they aren't.

Maybe they were threatened with death or something if they dared try and stop these useless wars.

I guess that's why you need multiple millions of dollars to be president: so people like me could be kept out of the mix.

I would need a bulletproof Popemobile if I were president, because no "Powers that Be" would control MY actions.

How strange that this post elicited so many replies over semantics, You'd have gotten more sympathetic response if you'd talked about mistreated cats. Or turtles.
