1. I've never understood why so many women
paint their faces with makeup. I've never used the stuff. What a waste of time and money. It's no surprise that it isn't good for you.

2. The database covers more than just women's products
All kinds of hygiene products, for both men and women, are there.

15. Exactly....anyone who thinks they're so smart because they don't use makeup...
the list also takes into consideration things like athletes foot treatments, bandages, muscle/joint soreness treatments, anti itch/rash creams, shampoos, etc.

People can go through life not using a lick of makeup on their faces and still be exposing themselves to dangerous chemicals.

6. Is it any different than piercing your body or tattoos? If so, explain, please.
I do it for me--not men.

16. It's quite different.
I happen to have a tattoo, 3 of them in fact. They are brightly colored decorations. I also have pierced ears and wear earrings and other jewelry for the same reason.

Painting a layer of flesh colored glop onto one's face (designed to look like one's natural skin) is not decoration. The only exception to this is makeup that is not designed to blend in but to decorate, like glittery eye shadow or fingernail polish for instance, and incidentally the only forms of makeup I have ever worn, on a few occasions.

20. Bah. I'm 57. Don't have to "please men"
I've worn makeup to all-female functions like wedding or baby showers.

The High School I went to 40 years ago was almost all female. I wore makeup then.

And I have a whole slew of perfumes that I wear even around the house when I'm not going out just because I enjoy the scents.

5. That's fine for you--for me, it's self-expression. I don't follow magazine pics,
I've carved out my own style and I like it.

One day they sent me out to a large nationally known cosmetics firm (Estee Lauder) to help get rid of a large amount of warehouse overstock.

Lipstick,Eyeshadow,Rouge,Creames,Lotions and Potions a shitload of'em,They had a 40 yard Dumpster backed up to the loading dock, our job...bust this stuff up so it could not be fished outta the dumpster and toss it away, pretty simple you would think,Right?

When we got there we were issued Haz-mat suits, gloves, face masks and shoe coverings, the Dumpster was lined with a leak proof liner, there was officals from the N.Y.State EPA on hand, the garbage contractor had to have what seemed like 10,000 permits,we had to do a 4 hour training in Haz-Mat handling, and were watched the whole time.

Thats when I came into the realization that this "Stuff" that many folk spend Billions of dollars on may, just may,not be as healthy as all those TV ads made it out to be.

The stuff you were throwing away may not have been as hazardous as you may think.

who take their no checmicalls, no synthetics, no animal testing very seriously, plus they make a nice product.

17. Just because it's a mineral doesn't mean it's safe
Talc and lead were widely used before people realized how dangerous they are.

10. I found the site a bit clumsy to use
I was especially looking for a way to find an antiperspirant that would have no allergy/irritation issues.

I used to spray Arrid Extra Dry in my teenage and young adult years, but because of irritation, I have avoided the use of any antiperspirant products in the last decade or so. That's usually fine, because I'm able to go from an air-conditioned house, to a car with A/C, to an office with it, but sometimes that's just not possible.

On a recent vacation, I found myself outside in the heat a lot more than usual, and I utilized a sample size of Old Spice Red Zone that I keep in my travel kit. I had irritation that lasted for about a week after the trip was over.

If you have any suggestions, I'd appreciate them, but I'm looking for a true antiperspirant, not a deodorant cover-up. Thank goodness I don't sweat the way I did in my teens!

11. Get A Crystal Anti-P From Your Local Health Food Store
Edited on Sat Jul-24-10 03:38 PM by Binka
You just get the crystal wet and rub it on. They come in a roll on type style. They cost about $10.00 and last about a year. Excellent protection and NO irritation.

They have a product locator on that website, and numerous places near me carry it. I'll give it a try!

13. I've started using this recently and I'm pretty happy. Not sure if it is in the database, tho
http://www.dermadoctor.com/product_DERMAdoctor-Total-NonScents-Ultra-Gentle-Antiperspirant_824.html?CSI=B2671

I *hate* scented anything, and I've had some issues with irritation. I really like this, though. I've also heard that Milk of Magnesia can be used under the arms, but I've never done that.

Good luck!
