Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu hasn't reported any violent incidents involving Ready's group yet, but he's apparently not too happy about having a bunch of armed neo-Nazis running around his county: "I'm not inviting them. And in fact, I'd rather they not come." Good thinking, Sheriff. But what does J.T. Ready say he and his pals will do if they see Mexicans trying to cross illegally into Arizona? "We'll Kill Them."

I think this is a legitimate question. We fear Mexicans, but also want them to do our laundry. There is a vacuum in the border states. On one side of the coin, the immigration laws are being broken, and these people finally have a chance to do something great with their lives: Become gun wielding vigilante cowboys who will patrol the border.

On the other hand, the immigrants that come here are looking for a better life, and often find that the better life is working for free managing a rich guys mansion or tending a farm. Call this what you will: indentured servitude, slavery. It certainly goes beyond illegal immigration.

I am left to wonder if the US had a comprehensive immigration policy, that extended open borders to these people with full citizenship, in a quick and easy way, maybe things would be better? If you look at applying for citizenship in Europe, it is a complex fiasco, and usually if you are denied once, you can never emigrate again. You usually need to have a certain number of "points". After all, lost citizens is lost tax revenue, and new citizens may not generate cohesion for the powers that be.

So what will it take for the states and feds to form a comprehensive immigration reform? Assuming they want it. These are the same people washing their dishes for a dollar an hour.
