6. They're in air-conditioned bars, having a drink
on our money. I feel for the people whose electricity goes out this weekend, and they aren't lobbyists or politicians of any political ideology.

It's going to get damned hot up here, as well. I just hope my A/C and the power to run it holds out.

7. nearly that in St Louis
high around 98 and heat index around 105-112.

I'm going to be helping a friend tear down part of his house - been doing that for a couple months now (he's doing some demolition in preparation for building a garage) - I suspect we may have to take it a little easy this weekend.

Today I mowed the lawn after work - it was only 90 with a heat index of 104 at the time.

10. Great Lakes are getting warmer as well

Great Lakes Warm Up, May Hit New Highs

Lake Superior was always numbingly cold when I waded in it back in the 70s. Northern Lake Michigan was often too uncomfortably cold to swim in for very long, until early July, each summer that I have been able to vacation up there since my childhood.

11. What exactly is a "buckling" road?
I saw/read the same thing. Crazy!

Even the pool isn't a good option during the middle of the day. I have been taking the kids in the evening instead when the sun isn't blistering hot anymore.

Oh, for the days of Snowmaggedon!
