Sweet Jeebus, I Hate The Media
Edited on Thu Jul-22-10 01:30 PM by ChoppinBroccoli
Just as Rachel has been showing us for the past few days. I open up Yahoo's front page and here's what hits me in the face.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100722/ap_on_an/us_obama_race_analysis

The headlines they used? "Second W.H. fumble on race," "Blunders shed light on W.H. trouble spot, "Two race-related gaffes a year apart reveal a dicey struggle within the Obama camp."

The "liberal media" is falling right in line with the Faux News talking point: Obama threw Sherrod under the bus!!! Rush to judgment!!! Why is Obama so hot-headed and impulsive!?!?

Just like Rachel's been talking about for days.

1. The Media is not Liberal
I always laugh when people complain the media has a liberal bias. Huge media conglomerates push their corporatists view on government, do no investigative journalism (don't want to upset advertisers), and produce nothing of value. I find blogs to be the saving grace in an overall disappointing media landscape.

2. Yep, just like has been used for newspaper headlines forever to grab attention and money. Sadly
good things don't usually attract attention, bad things do... it's all about P&L, the bottom line.

5. Yahoo isn't media at all really
As far as I know they don't have any news gathering apparatus but just reprint shit spewed out the AP and other outlets. I don't bother with them much because their site is so damned ugly.

The AP on the other hand where Yahoo got the "story" has turned into pretty much a RW shill machine in their desperate attempt to remain relevant. AP stories haven't been worth much for years.

6. Didn't Murdoch (or someone similar) just recently but the AP?
I have a vague memory of that happening...

8. Just had the "pleasure" of listening to Rush for 10 minutes on the radio
He was babbling incoherently about how the Democrat Party (sic) was keeping black people "on the plantation," and then was befuddled how the Dept. of Agriculture could have a civil rights division.

Then he took a call from someone who said she was a woman of color who proceeded to gush excessively over Rush and claimed that he spoke for her 100% and that Barack Obama, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson don't represent the majority of black people, and that there is no racism in the USA anymore. It sounded suspiciously "scripted" -- the woman did not mention a single issue or example to back up her claim, only that Rush was right and everyone else was wrong, which led to Rush bloviating how this caller made his day. I'm pretty sure it had to be one of pimpy James O'Keefe's "whores" phoning in the call.

Then Rush continued on to how he should be the one who feels persecuted these days.

And that's when I had to turn it off to avoid projectile vomiting on the interior of my car.

Rush Limbaugh uses the same psychological tactics as fundamentalist evangelical religion.
