Anyone else beginning to think that the Republicans don't want to win back Congress?
I mean whothefuck would be against emergency unemployment for people in dire straights and at the same time be for tax cuts for the wealthy during economic times like these?

Probably a pretty cushy job being in the minority and just voting no against everything and still keep getting elected.

Think about it.

1. Its possible. They know if they did gain control they would be held partially accountable.
I suspect they just want to win enough seats to effectly block any legislation and hope the economy turns to shit. Then they would run the table in 2012.

2. I believe that is their plan, as much as they have a long term plan...they have
little hope of controling congress after this election, but they have a good chance of gaining a few seats in both houses, blocking EVERYTHING the Democrats introduce for the till the new elections in 2012.

3. No, they do
They just want it on their terms. If they distort the public dialogue so much that crazy becomes the new wise, then they'll have carte blanche to do whatever they want.

4. Given demographic trends, they are doomed long term, but here in CA, they are already permanent
minority and use that status to wreck havoc since our constitution requires a 2/3 vote to pass a budget or raise taxes.

They always block the latter and make the former about as easy as shitting a watermelon.

5. No, nor that they're really that stupid.
They just think that they can fool the electorate again.

6. Of course they want to win back Congress.
Un-organized crime steals your purse.
Organized crime suborns the accountants to cook the books
Really organized crime just has larceny written out of the statute books by their legislators.

We're dealing with people whose 'small-government 'political philosophy has, as the only 2 legitimate functions of the state, war and providing their getaway car with a police escort.
