What the hell is wrong with us?
Some right wing clown with a history of putting out bogus edited "videos" attacks this woman with a clip that "looks really bad", but which took all of 2 minutes for the lady to put into context and explain. But did we give her that chance? The chance to show that this was a story she was retelling about something that happened 24 years ago and was being told to illustrated growth in race relations? Did we go to the "victim" who says she is a "good friend"? Did we demand to see the video in its full context? No. No. No. No. We pissed our collective pants, fell over each other to denounce her and got played yet again. Goddamn it Democrats, have somebody's back once in a while.

And now republicans are blaming Obama for firing her...knowing full well this wouldn't have happened if there wasn't a tape to begin with. Masters of deflection.

I understand the administration's reluctance to get involved in anything involving race for political reasons ("beer summit" anyone?), but my gosh, this woman was thrown under the bus. Full stop. Eric Holder was the one who said our country was chicken about talking about race. Yet they silenced this woman's narrative and change of heart, which is in essence a great story.

Leave it to republicans to take a good story and turn it into shit.

It's not just the Democrats
The MSM is an utter failure, they didn't vet the story before they blathered it everywhere.

The only way this kind of thing will stop is when those like Breitbart are sued and it costs them money for defamation of character and what ever else applies.

It took 15 minutes to figure out what happened here. I am also going to guess the poor woman is receiving all kinds of threats now.

3. We also don't have the facts
and it will be extremely enlightening to find out which scared little rabbit demanded she resign over an obvious hatchet job from a well known character assassin.

Not that we ever will.

I just hope it wasn't Obama, himself. He's better than that, or he should be.

And no, you didn't say it was Rahm, I did. It's got that snake's scales all over it.

11. Oh yeah, that That sucks badly. Politics.
The White House and the NAACP went into damage control before hearing the full story and the Republicans made a fuss about it without caring about the full story. As is always the case, no one did the right thing because everyone was trying to help themselves, and a decent person pays the price.

Fucking DC.

6. US? Speak for yourself. Vilsack and absolutely no doubt some chickenshit at the WH (despite WH CYA
denials) overreacted. If the name Andrew Breibart wasn't enough to clue them in to hold their horses, I don't know what possibly could.

Put the blame where it specifically belongs, 'k?

13. 100% correct, classic Rove ... take YOUR weakness (racisim) ....
... and declare over and over that it is your opponent's weakness.

By doing so, you go from playing defense (on racism) to playing offense (on racism).

You do not want to DEFEND the racists in the Tea Party ... so you call Obama a racist, Michelle is a racist, holder is a racist, Colin Powell is a racist, Sotomayer is a racist ... on and on and on ...

You tell the old idiots on the far right that the scary black panthers are BACK ... over and over and over ...

You do secret video of ACORN, edit those, and then do what you can to show that the black employees are criminals ...

You decide that the acronym NAACP includes the words "colored people" ... and then you repeat that phrase over and over and over pretending to not recognize that the context in which it is used maters.

And then ... you find this video ... and spin it 180 degrees and then claim that the woman who was talking about advancing racial understanding and cooperation, was actually advancing a racist perspective.

Clearly, the boot of the African-American has been on the neck of the rich white man for decades.

8. DLCism - which is really "Washington Generalism" (vs. Bushies' being the Harlem Globetrotters)
And whether it's a Grand Conspiracy, completely unccordinated actions by a large group of individuals with similar interests, or anything in between, the RESULT is grotesque in the extreme.

9. Breitbart is allowed to do whatever the fuck he wants.
He's a total asshole. His anger is out of control. He slanders and defames individuals and organizations, sends his operatives on illegal missions, and gets away with it. He took down Acorn and this poor woman, based on disinformation. The Democrats are so fucking scared of the right wingers that they help him do it.

Breitbart is a far bigger threat to this country than any "terrorist". He would be very logical choice for a predator drone target, since we're into that sort of thing. (yeah, I said that!) :banghead:

20. Sadly, this is the environment of race relations that ALL OF US have helped to create.
We've used cries of "racism" and "sexism" as political tools of convenience for so long that the general populace can't tell the difference between the fake and the real thing now.
